Obi: Failure To Electronically Transmit Results Nullifies Presidential Election by nairalandkachy1: 2:51pm On Jul 22, 2023
The Labour Party and its Presidential candidate, Peter Obi has stressed before the Presidential Election Petition Court that the Independent National Electoral Commission’s alleged failure to transmit the results of the presidential election electronically from the polling unit to its results viewing portal amounts to non-compliance with Electoral Act and other related regulations.

The petitioners stated this in their final written addresses while still calling on the court to nullify the victory of President Bola Tinubu on grounds that Tinubu and the Vice President, Kashim Shettma were not qualified to have contested the election.

They also contend that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was wrong to have declared Tinubu the winner of the election despite not scoring 25 per cent of votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

These amongst others was the labour party and its candidate’s response to the joint final address by Tinubu and Shettima, seeking the dismissal of the petition.

The Labour Party and their Candidate, argued that they did substantially well to prove their case, having called 13 witnesses and tendered volumes of documents to prove their case.

They further argue that the forfeiture proceedings allegedly involving Tinubu in a United States District Court was sufficient to have him disqualified by INEC from standing for election.

While harping on Tinubu’s failure to win 25 percent of votes in the FCT, the Labour Party and its Presidential candidate while citing some judicial authorities, submitted that, the provisions of Section 299 can be interpreted to mean that the FCT will be regarded as a state to the extent of the exercising and enjoyment of executive, legislative and judicial powers by the President, National Assembly and the High Court ofthe FCT, on behalf of the FCT and no more and the Constitution is clear on the separate and distinct status of the FCT. It is treated as any other state in Nigeria.

“Hence, the deliberate amendment of the drafters of the 1999 Constitution, to include the additional requirement of 25 percent votes in the FCT must not be rendered redundant as it is possible that the drafters intended that the popularity of the winning candidate must extend not only to an appreciable geographical spread, but also to the FCT being the capital city and melting pot for all Nigerians and which would truly reflect the will of all Nigerians.”

Funny people, if 25% in FCT is determinants of who becomes President, it like nailing their coffin because north will make sure no southerners ever get 25% in FCT till the end of ages. Either today or tomorrow Aso rock is getting far from children of anger and hatred.

Oga, this is FALSE.

People who live in Abuja are enlightened. It's not like Ogun where Tinubu will come and scream Yoruba Lokan.

Also, FCT has more security than anywhere in Nigeria, meaning that thugs won't be allowed to run away with ballot boxes like it played out in many places around Lagos. In fact, in my polling unit, the bale asked people to stop voting and fight broke out. That was how guber election ended - fight, disarray, violence and bloodshed.

Besides, foreign election observers always throng Abuja, meaning that elections in Abuja will always remain peaceful, fair and credible because for obvious reasons, the Nigerian government will do anything to look good in the eyes of foreigners.

So, you are totally wrong. What can only work in Abuja is engaging enlightened minds and getting them to vote for your party, not violence.

Peter Obi and his supporters are yet to show us how he won the 2023 election...yet he wants Tinubu's victory nullified under frivolous claims.

So cuz Abuja people are more enlightened then 25% in Abuja should determine Nigeria electoral values….Peter Obi should do more if he really want to get justice, not all these sides talks. He need to figure out where he was rigged ASAP.

Obi is not only clueless but bereft of ideas.

Did INEC tell you they did not transmit all the election results electronically after counting at the polling units .

You lots were relying on results displayed on INEC Irev portal to collate the final results as you were short of ten of thousands polling unit agents to forward the results to them.

Imagine how Peter Obi has been changing basis of his petition. When he was first interviewed immediately after the election, Obi's major emphasis for going to court was because of the low turn out claiming it's questionable considering the number of registered voters, from that to 25% in Abuja, to Shettima nomination to president Tinubu's dead drug case in USA.

How can a grown man like Obi be deliberately deceiving his gullible supporters with his inconsistent claiming of winning the election when he his even yet to tell us which figure he scored to have won the election, which states he got 25% and how he arrived at the figure .

It's indeed true that in the land of blind men, one eye man will always be the king

No this is not the kind of Nigeria I want but I reject n rebuke Anambra Pandoraa Obi template I will rather go with a Tinubu template of Lagos of a beta Nigeria than what we have now.

Peter Pandoraa Obi can never in his lifetime guarantee a beta Nigeria comparing his antecedent in Anambra to the achievement of Tinubu in Lagos.

I await your next ipob senseless n foolish lamentation.

Bro, the results was even transmitted to the Inec servers in real time. INEC waited for physical results, compare it with the one transmitted in their servers before displaying in Irev portal

The lame argument of LP is Irev live results transmission as if there is any part in our electoral law which make Irev mandatory..

shut up! The north like Atiku and Peter Obi. If any of those two win alhamdulillahi.
Tinubu is not the president that Nigeria want.
You can even out to your street and ask 10 people who they will prefer to be president. I bet it that it will be very hard for tinubu to get 2 people out of the 10 people.

Rubbish! The electoral act allows INEC to choose either electronic or manual transmission.

Typical pull him down syndrome.. because he failed woefully, he wants others to fail too.

There is nothing special in Abuja, just one tiny fraction of the big nation called Nigeria. Anyone who scores highest number of votes with highest number of states won is constitutionally fit to be President.
