TheBillyonaire:If all Obidients can play politics of opposition like you or Reno, there would be less hatred in the country. I told someone on here yesterday that all the major candidates said subsidy would be removed, therefore temporary pain is guaranteed, but atleast the nation is on the right track. Of course I got insulted. The insulter even said he was sure I was struggling to buy Garri. To them, anyone that speaks in favour of Tinubu's policy is poor while they are rich. 3 Likes |

Only shallow people attack the messenger when they can't counter the message. I am not a Tinubu fan ... loyal to no Party. Fuel subsidy is a big drain on the economy... how long can the FG support fuel subsidy by borrowing?... or using up money that can be used for infrastructure? We would not be this indebted for and in such a financial crisis if any of the previous Presidents had the balls to cut fuel subsidy. From what I observed.... no doubt Obi had this in his plans... but he doesn't have the balls nor the backings to confront the cabal. Tinubu has both ... and the cabals know this ... they do not want to clash with Tinubu. We are now facing the real world ... it is for us to now come to grip with reality and figure out ways to adapt and move forward. Charity is no more .... we're dashed lemons .... what we do with the lemons is our choice . 1 Like |

raskymonojendor:But you know you're lying. Obi detailed how he would remove subsidy unlike Tinubu. Even Atiku detailed how he will remove subsidy. So it's false logic to claim they will do the same thing Tinubu is doing when they clearly said otherwise. So the guy is right to insult you 1 Like |

Originalsly:When Jonathan removed the same subsidy after increase minimum wage by a double figure, it was same Tinubu who instigated protests against him. What Tinubu is enjoying is mass burn-out from years of govt propaganda on subsidy as well as the fact that Nigeria is bitterly divided to agree on anything. The removal is not good for the economy. No two ways about it. Anyone telling you of some apple down the line is just deceiving you. They've said Dangote refinery will not bring down price of fuel so what exactly is the light at the end of the tunnel of subsidy removal. Can you itemise them for me? 1 Like |

Iziquiel:What are the names of the govs from the opposition party who attested? Kindly give me their names. The first story that 1.95trn was to be shared was from The Cable. They quoted "sources" throughout and no other major news outlet published that story. The next story about saving was from The Whistler and that one also quoted sources. When FAAC held, the AGF who is the only official with power to declare revenues declared only 1.15trn and never mentioned anything about saving. Funny enough, for the first time in a long while, Seun and his mods refused to push FAAC allocation story to fp. Here's the link. https://www.nairaland.com/7772728/fg-states-lgas-share-n907.054bn#124570100. Read it. You can see the source is channelstv. |

SocialJustice:1trn wasn't saved. Naira was devalued and excess money printed. That's headline for those who don't monetary policy and inflation. This nonsense phrase you and your ilk keep repeating is getting tiring. Almost all state governments are owing 1 salary or the other. Their is a reason for that and I hope you can figure it out. There is no such thing as cheap public transit. Not in Nigeria, not in any country in the world. Someone is definitely paying the full cost. How dubious of you to support removal of fuel subsidy while encouraging transport subsidy? He didn't create anything! Do you even understand what you are typing? The US with more than 300 million has mere 750 billionaires. Does it make sense to you to judge public welfare and general economy by the presence of your imaginary billionaires? You have no idea what true free market capitalism is. Hints, no country operates free market capitalism, government always interfere one way or the other for public good. 2 Likes |

Re: Tinubu Has Lost Control Of The Economy Very Early by Kukutente23: 7:49pm On Jul 22, 2023 |
Originalsly:But what we're dealing with exactly is our inability to remove subsidy in the past. That's exactly what we're dealing with now. Besides, you claim past Presidents did not have the balls to cut subsidy and I called your attention to that as a lie. In 2012, govt moved fuel price from 75 to 145. That's less than 200% increase. The min wage then was 18000 at exchange rate of 165 which gives $109. That min wage could buy 124litres of fuel then. In 2023, govt moved fuel price from 189 to 617. That's over 300% increase. Min wage now is 30,000 with exchange rate of 802 which gives $37. The min wage now can only buy 48litres. So if removing subsidy was a bad idea then according to Tinubu, can you show what justifies its removal now? Because what the calculations show is that Nigerians need subsidy thrice now than they needed it in 2012. So can you show in cogent terms why removing fuel subsidy is good for the economy now that people are earning less with a weaker currency than when people were earning more with a stronger currency? |
Re: Tinubu Has Lost Control Of The Economy Very Early by Kukutente23: 7:59pm On Jul 22, 2023 |
ivolt:Pls pls and pls. We need to educate Nigerians. There was no 1.95trn revenue. It was just cheap propaganda planted by APC through the cable. No other media house took the story. The AGF only declared 1.15 trillion as gross revenue not any 1.95trn. https://www.nairaland.com/7772728/fg-states-lgas-share-n907.054bn#124570100. |

Kukutente23: In 2012 ... did the FG get rid of the subsidy? Price increase is not the same as subsidy removal. Tinubu has removed the subsidy. What he said back then doesn't matter now. Are you suggesting he should stick to what he said 10 years ago? I have no clue what you claim he said back then or why he said what he said. What I know is the circumstances are not the same. Am I to understand you are claiming removing fuel subsidy is a bad idea because of the price increase to customers? The strength of the economy depends on several factors. Our main one is oil exports.... we depend heavily on that. Our refineries are pretty much down ... our exports are down... foreign exchange income is less.... instead of producing our own petroleum products we are importing. To maintain an affordable price at the pump.... subsidy is in place. To pay for the subsidy.... money that could've been used for education ... infrastructure development and maintenance ... health services.... etc. Is now diverted to paying for subsidy. When there is no more available we turned to borrowing How on earth can this be good for the economy? |

TheBillyonaire:this is how you identify a bandit with an agenda. There were over 20 presidential candidates, but this fellow could only talk about OBI. This is indefatigable proof that indeed the bandit and all the others like him on here know damn well that Obi has something good to offer. Look around, they don't ever mention Atiku, they don't mention Sowore, they don't mention Kwaks. East to West, and North to South on Nairaland island, OBI is the name they always mention. Truly, people will certainly only throw stones at a fruitful tree. Smh |
