Is Akwa Ibom becoming the State of Uncommon poverty ni.

It's disgraceful that despite the huge oil derivation funds Akwa Ibom state receives from national oil revenue, the state is always leading from the rear in unemployment and poverty yet the people are hostile to investors. Check my signature for free stuffs!

all the above are not better than the worst SS state. So Where are the details of Sadwasted (SW) states? A region where it's noted that people can't even take a decent bath, because there is no water in 2023? angry

Shame for Sadwaste is real...spits

In terms of multidimensional poverty, the SW is better than all the other regions including your SE.

Some years ago, I witnessed this dysfunctional social 'epidemic' in Bayelsa but I expect this should have reduced or stopped now. Your own account sounds recent though. There's a Yoruba adage that if a family/community is peaceful, it's because the illegitimate children in that family/ommunity have not grown up.

Any society I see serious upheavals, this adage is the first thing that comes to my mind. I know this for a fact that if you are a legitimate child of a family/community, you will never want violence and wanton blood shedding in your family/community. It is this wisdom that Solomon used to know the real mother of the baby that two women were laying claims to. The woman who requested that the baby be split into two halves clearly is an illegitimate mother.

This morbid fear of having illegitimate children in a family/community is why the Yoruba do rites on newborns and have special traditional methods of 'pushing' out illegitimate children in a family if the mother doesn't confess. That illegitimate child will misbehave in a manner that he/she and the mother will şesin (be exposed) and it's unfortunate because it's no fault of the illegitimate child. That is why in Yorubaland, an adopted child has a stake in the family than an illegitimate child.

Any society producing illegitimate children have no future. That's why some families and communities are today non existent because they have been erased by a plaque of illegitimate children.
you’re wise

Why should 13 percent derivation fund be given to Governors?

There should be an independent ministry run by 'Foreigners' to run the development of these regions

Not just AKWA IBOM, Rivers , Delta. Bayelsa and Cross Rivers too, it's the same situation across the nitre Niger delta
why does the tradition in the vast niger delta states do not frown against illegitimate children? It’s such a norm and breeds uncontrollable youths when they grow up. Sometimes unproductive too.

People will just sit and concoct rubbish data. South west aside Lagos is the worse in terms of poverty , second to North aside kaduna, or maybe Kano.

South south is the less hit region in Nigeria in terms of poverty.

The data says otherwise https://businessday.ng/business-economy/article/south-west-nigeria-stands-out-as-region-with-lowest-unemployment-rate-in-nigeria/#:~:text=South%2D%20West%20Nigeria%20which%20is,Force%20Survey%20Under%20Covid%2D19.

All those regions are better than all SW states.

Osun can't rival any of those States,no matter how bad it is for them. Please focus more on the Sadwasted region (SW). Thank you

Despite its Rich natural mineral deposit, they still continue to wallow in huge poverty dimensions. The poverty itself is not in the unavailability of the resources but in the cerebellum of her leaders who lack the thinking acumen of how to harness these resources for the overall benefits of the people.

The last 8years of apc have left a further 60% of Nigerians poorer than they were before.

Infact, million of Nigerians living good previously are now poor in many ways as many can't confortably afford the basics anymore.

If they check this country well, I m sure that over 150million people are poor

What can they do? These are states with an endemic toxic and destructive culture of corporate begging from the community level.

In the height of militancy I was stationed in the region in bayelsa to the precise , I worked in community liaison and visited all these states deeply and intimately related with communities and I can tell you that the foundatuional ideology from the home setting in the Niger delta is flawed. And breeds criminals not good focused youths.on paper they tell you that they are traditionally fishermen. That's a farce.

The youths have been raised by a wolf tradition by their forefathers encouraging begging and holding IOCs and other multinationals in the region hostage to feed them

A culture that encourages under aged drinking and immorality.

A culture that encourages drunkenness and wild unchecked behaviour .

A culture of unmarried pregnancy with a 90% population made up of fatherless children

The traditional beliefs that make up the major ethnic groups is very weak in the Niger Delta state
It's very common to find an unmarried girl of say 22 having 2 kids from different men living in her father's house and it is not frowned upon at all
I saw countless cases of incest patricide and such which is called a community affair .

The culture is ruthless retrogressive savage and destructive

Until the issues in the Niger Delta are addressed from a foundational point the entire south will continue to witness an endless supply of willing criminals easily used as kidnappers robbers assassins etc
Stop talking nonsense every region in Nigeria have this same problem
