garfield1: My guy I think we over emphasize this âtechnocratâ matter as Nigerians. Shagari was minister of education, finance, internal affairs, commerce, works, pensions amongst othersâŚ.what was his qualificationâŚ..he was a teacherâŚ..no degreee..no private sector expertiseâŚ, ,teacher training certificate thatâs all!! My opinion is that Nigerian technocrats tend to be disappointments in governance. Speak too much English, unrealistic western mindset and impractical copy Oyinbo all the time ideas that tend to fail. People like Fashola are exceptions and if you think about it, Fassholaâs performances both as governor and minister have nothing to do with his professionâŚlaw. If you look at the ministers in the Uk and the Secretaries of State in the US, they are overwhelmingly career politiciansâŚ.rewards for political effortâŚ.jobs for the boys. Joe Biden, Tony Blair for example are career politicians who have never had proper jobs in their lives outside politics. The only positions where you need strictly a âtechnocratâ is attorney GeneralâŚ.and possibly finance but people like Malami have shown even that is not enough. The other positions what you need is intelligence to understand the issues and sincerity. They can and do employ âtechnocratâ advisers to help them. Iâm not against technocrats per se just saying we tend overate technocrats. IMHO technocrats should be DGs, advisers, directors, working under the cover of the politicians. For me what will determine the success of Tinubuâs administration is the formulation of a master plan. The reason why people want technocrats is because there really hasnât been a focused master plan for past administrations. When you have a master plan m, it really doesnât matter who the minister isâŚ, the roles, functions and goals of your ministry are defined under the master plan irrespective of who is minister. My 2 cents. 5 Likes |

Ijebu, awori and egun part of the ethnic group in the two state are native to both state. You can be an awori from sango in ogun state or an awori from ojo in lagos state or an ijebu from ibeju-lekki or an ijebu from ijebu-ode. 1 Like |

garfield1: There was a publication that states that she is from Ebonyi State, but her husband is from Abi LGA of Cross River State, Abi LGA shares boundaries with Ebonyi State. This makes her a Cross Riverian by marriage. She is a twin with a brother, spent all her life in Calabar, Federal Gobernment Girls College, Calabar&UNICAL are the schools she attended before obtaining MSc in Public Health in the UK. She was heavily involved in Student politics during her days in UNICAL. I do follow her. She should be the youngest Minister nominee @37. Born 27th October, 1986. 3 Likes |
