Obaaderemi2:Oga I just taught you the meaning of Multidimensional poverty and the difference between that and extreme poverty. If the Yorubas have the foundation you boast about how come the region is getting poorer and less educated while the SE is getting more educated and poverty is on the down despite Buhari economy. Don't you see that your argument does not make sense. The region with the most poverty in 1970 has the least poverty in 2023. Please what has changed in the SW since 1970. I am sure you would say IGR. In 1970 all SE kids were out of school but now the SE tops in in school kids. So when you talk of foundation, it's either the foundation is eroded or it was a fake foundation in the first place. The SE foundation is not based on Government. It's culture. It's a people striving for excellence and competitive among themselves. The SE has the least poverty not because of government but despite bad governance. It leads with small and medium enterprises. It's all about individuals making a difference for themselves and families. |

SE is always poorer than SW in the pages of newspapers and statistics chunned out people from the SW, but when that is matched with reality they feal offended. |

Dest8sman:Nigerian cities are the same but Lagos government is the only viable government in the country yet Lagos has no advantage of living space like other states. In Osun, it can be possible to capture easily over one million personal income tax payers from private school teachers, hotel workers, factory workers, pure water factories, bakeries, poultry workers, sales people, beverage companies, pharmaceutical companies, universities, petrol stations, manufacturers and etc. 1 million can be captured and among them working in the private sector are people collecting over 3 million per month as expatriates. Minimum wage can be 50k and if u can't pay then don't employ. Very simple. More than 30 billion per month will be the revenue within a year and within twenty years if no state copies Osun, then Osun will surpass Lagos in population. Osun used to have a much higher population than Lagos say in the 1900s and this thing can be done by any state but only Lagos is doing it at maybe 25 percent efficiency. Imagine what 30 billion naira per month can do in Osun state. It can be possible to get a Tata or Tesla etc franchise to be located in the state. That is the approach. What is applicable to Osun is applicable to any other state in the country because they all have GDP in billions of dollars per annum |

tctrills:There's no need for this useless verbosity. You keep saying rubbish. I've learned basically nothing from you. Instead I've been the one schooling you, with evidence if you want me to provide it for others to see. Poverty is higher in the East than West. You keep saying 1970, that was the end of the civil war. After that the West accepted you back and helped you get back on your feet. You all had to troop down to Ibadan and other SW towns before the East could stand again, a practice you maintain till today. Ruined countries usually rise up better than they were. Examples are Germany and France and Angola. Multidimensional poverty according to credible sources captures the issue and measures of poverty in all aspects. If you are multidimensionally poor then it's a bigger problem than regular poverty because it also captures childhood problems and poverty. The SE is multidimensionally poorer than SW proves ibos are going to be behind yorubas for a long time to come. And what's more? That data was released this very month! It should worry you. Hold your leaders accountable but instead Ibadan and Yoruba people are viewed as your problems. Continue. |

Obaaderemi2:What has happened to the west since 1970? Over 50% in extreme poverty. Is that the foundation you boast if? |
| Re: Out Of 22 Million Living In The South East, 11 Million Are Poor. by Obaaderemi2: 7:04am On Aug 01, 2023 |
tctrills:Without that foundation it would have been worse today. The rest of you dragged the West back by swarming our land and stressing our resources. That's why a yoruba state is the least poor state in Nigeria and the SW remains the least poor region in Nigeria. |
| Re: Out Of 22 Million Living In The South East, 11 Million Are Poor. by tctrills: 7:42am On Aug 01, 2023 |
Obaaderemi2:You just lie. Do you have any evidence to back what you say? How is the SW beings stressed. Are you saying that the Igbos in the SW don't pay their bills? In fact, the Igbos and Hausas in the SW are one of the biggest sources of growth and wealth to the region. The SW has a poverty rate of over 50%. That's not the least. That's the foundation you boast of. No intelligent person can boast of such failures. The SW has all it takes to pull it's people out of poverty. It has all the economic advantages yet it continues to disappoint. That you are able to boast of 50% poverty rate just because your IGR is high makes zero sense. Ogun state has one of the largest IGRs yet it's the poverty capital of the SW How have you not yet hanged your governors. Ogun state is littered with big multinational corporations yet 3 out of every 5 of it's people are dying of poverty and you blame the non indigenes. If non indigenes are the problem then Lagos and not Ogun state should be the poverty capital of the SW. |

Obaaderemi2:In the 1970s, the SW was one of the richest regions in the entire Africa. The SE was just recovering from a war and was the poorest. Today, more than half of the SW people are poor but your leaders want you to believe that the problem is that Igbo man who pays you rent and who buys and sells goods in your market. Somehow he is stressing your economy by paying his rent and paying for food. If he has a shop, he pays Government agents tax. In 1970, no Igbo child was in school. All through the 70s and 80s, the Igbos were known for not going to school. The were all into business. Today, the have the lowest number of out of school kids. It was not government that changed this. 4 states in the SW have over 1 out of every 10 kids out of school. The SW still leads in many areas but they are beginning to fail in some of the most important metrics, education and poverty rate. It's a shame. It's nothing to be excited about. But we can't solve the problem by pretending it's not there. The Awo foundation is broken. |
| Re: Out Of 22 Million Living In The South East, 11 Million Are Poor. by tctrills: 9:11am On Aug 01, 2023 |
Obaaderemi2:Now let's test your theory that non indigenes are stressing the SW economy. Let's make some assumptions and calculations 1. Assume that there are 2 million non indigenous households in the SW. 2. Let's assume they pay an average of 100k for housing per year. That equals 200 billion. 3. Again let's assume each household spends 200k on feeding per year. That equals 400 billion. 4. Now let's assume that half of these households own businesses and have to rent space. They pay 100k per year. That equals 100 billion. 5. These people use transportation. Let's assume another 200k per year as transport is now very expensive. That's another 400 billion 6. They buy other household needs. They pay bills such as NEPA and school fees. Let's assume another 400 billion per year. Now explain how an additional 1.5 trillion to the SW economy is not a blessing. These people are making the region more viable and competitive. Their contributions alone is more than the IGR of the entire region. So oga how are the stressing your economy? |
| Re: Out Of 22 Million Living In The South East, 11 Million Are Poor. by Obaaderemi2: 9:55am On Aug 01, 2023 |
tctrills:Nonsense! You must be very young. How many hausa people have#100,000 to rent an apartment? Most of them huddle together in ghettos and refuse to go to school but mess up the environment. One ibo man rents a room and brings about 10 boys to come and live with him. Only a few are doing very well. Yet all of you swell up the population of the West and it eventually affects our data. Look at ondo for example, it doesn't have as many ibos and hausas as a place like Ibadan. It's the least poor state in Nigeria. I'm wasting time with you and will subsequently stop responding to you. The thread has been debunked and destroyed already. Our point has been made: the SW is richer than the SE. We only hope to be better. |

tctrills:Yes. I had a friend that grew up in Enugu and others I met that grew up in Aba, many others in PH and they are Yorubas. In the old Eastern region are millions of Yoruba who also swell up the economy in the same way you described but if there is no decorum there will be issues. Yoruba have the numbers and investments in PH, Kaduna and etc too and Hausas too but they don't direct attention to themselves and they bow to the dominant culture on ground. In conclusion a sparsely populated city is better than a city with a huge percentage of the population as belligerents. That is the issue. Yorubas can only succeed in Igbo land by cooperating with Igbos. That is the only way. |

Tomek09:Do they have stalls or they go about hawking?. I don't encourage not having a fixed address. Advise any of them you see to have a fixed joint even if under a tree. Agbo is a product that will never die. The industry is comparable to the brewery industry. The market is there. They are selling majority water and a water seller can never go bankrupt. |

lawani:Oga, it seems you don't understand what we are talking about here. You make important points but that's for another topic. Again one should not be afraid of directing attention to himself in his own country. I have lived in other countries and no one asked you not to direct attention to yourself. Are you trying to take away people's right of expression? |
| Re: Out Of 22 Million Living In The South East, 11 Million Are Poor. by tctrills: 10:56am On Aug 01, 2023 |
Obaaderemi2:Oga your points are baseless. The average Hausa man in the west is actually doing better than the indigenes. He is either selling suya, or foodstuffs or involved in some physical work. He is contributing much more than the jobless Alaye boy. But let's assume you are right which you are not. Let's reduce the amount on rent by 50 %. It's still a 1.3 trillion economy added to the SW. How is that not a net positive. |

brotherAremu1:I simply use the “mu” in the Aremu to remind you that you are a complete mumu. First you must get proper education. Your English is so poor and disgraceful. Your English gives you away as unlearned. Your foolishness should have told you that the people who you are your baba so pe generation call poor, sell the phone in your hand presently. Your poor mentality has not even allowed you to know that everything that makes you live, including the drugs that keep your foolish self alive, are sold by them. They dominate your life on all fronts. Unfortunately your poverty infested life makes you think other people suffer the same fate. You are truly a mumu. |

Cantonese:Someone selling phones in faraway Lagos as a wholesaler is not the one dominating phone retail in all of Yoruba land and not only Igbos are phone wholesalers in Lagos. When retailers make 2000 wholesalers may make just 100 or 50 on the same item. What about big businesses like petrol stations, bakeries, pure water factories and etc. Pharmaceutical companies in Ilesa are not owned by Igbos. Commercial buses alone buy up to 5 million naira fuel a day in Ilesa leaving out okadas and private vehicles. Hundreds of pure water factories selling millions every month, how much of that is dominated by Igbos who are mostly traders?. Is there any Yoruba or Hausa city where ten percent of the buildings are owned by Igbos?. I don't understand what you mean by saying Igbos are dominating the SW. People come from all over the country to the SW to buy Tokunbo cars and ninety percent of the dealers are Yoruba and it is only in Lagos that a small percentage are Igbos. |

Tomek09:Agbo sellers are richer than your chewing sticks and okpa sellers. The agbo sellers usually come to sell to you agbo that will make you seat down in your region and not come and pollute the SW with your poverty and negativities. Umahi has already said that more than 11 million Igbos have fled to SW due to poverty. Take Igbos off SW and the poverty level will reduce drastically. Igbos are commensurate to 35% out of 50% level of poverty in the SW. |
