A40: Easy Rawlins : A man once told me that you step out of your door in the morning, and you are already in trouble. The only question is are you on top of that trouble or not? This is where we are. Whether we want to be involved or not, we share a large border with this country. By now it should be obvious the coup is sponsored by Russia's wagner. The coup ultimately is about resources. We also have resources that wagner would love to get their hands on. It did not end with Mali, it did not end with Sudan. It will not end with Niger. This is also how it started with Germany in ww2. One country at a time. Whether we want to be involved or not we are involved. It is now a question of whether we want to be on top of the situation or if we want the situation to be on top of us. Understand that wagner/Russia WILL NOT STOP. Especially as we have lithium and gold in the North. Gold that China is already stealing supported by bandits. There is a new alignment Russia, China, Saudi, iran. All very strange bedfellows. But all capable of sponsoring more strife in Nigeria towards their own ends. Saudi and northern salafists, iran and the shiites, China and the bandits. For all we know Russia is already sponsoring esn. (they did attack a us convoy) So we are already in it. Maybe not neck deep, but up to the knees. We are Nigerians and we should understand this. When /if robbers start operating in your area, you are involved whether you want to be or not. For all we know, just as America already knew that Russia would invade Ukraine, they already knew about the Russian backed coup and have already briefed Tinubu. |

See what Senegalese incumbent president is doing to an opposition because he is the youths favourite and going as far as putting him in jail preventing him from participating in next year's election, disbanding the party and banning social media,no words from ECOWAS about that yet... When and if the military steps in with a coup cos of the endless violence, dem go say na Russia/Wagner sponsor am |

ECOMOG entered Liberia in 1990 for peace keeping mission and withdrew officially in 1998.If u think Nigeria will just brisk in and out of Niamey and Bozoum will be reinstated as president, maybe u should have a rethink. Bode George who was in the Nigerian military as a senior officer until 1997 has this to say about how the military intervention was funded then and the economic reality of today : If you remember, Nigeria, almost singularly, financed ECOMOG military operations and that was when our economy was better. Which economy are we going to use now to finance a full military operation in Niger Republic, when Mali and Burkina Faso have threatened to take sides with Niger Republic? As at 2021 Femi Gbajabiamila lamented that 91% of Nigeria's defence budget is spent on recurrent expenditure like paying salaries and welfare leaving only 9% for capital expenditure like purchase of equipment, arms and ammunitions. But yet somehow u think this same Nigeria should be in the forefront of rallying poorer ECOWAS member countries to lead a military action in a country that is 1.4 times bigger than it in land mass where they could deal.with Guirella warfare for years to come. It's going to be a long way down the road once the first shots are fired. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 1:13am On Aug 05, 2023 |
BlueRayDick:not sure the analogy matches. by the time nigeria came in - Liberia had completely broken down it had multiple warlords going by that, there is a case for swift intervention before the situation breaks down into sudan style civil war. right now, it is more like the case of laurent gbagbo - a person posturing on the seat and making threats. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Liberian_Civil_War a lot of what happened in liberia may just repeat itself . it started with a coup in the 1980s, and was a full fledged civil war in 10 years. especially with the players involved. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 1:17am On Aug 05, 2023 |
GloriousGbola:There were other military interventions by ECOMOG, but at what cost to each member country? That's the point. Nigeria practically finances major part of those interventions. Why are we towing that part now when the government of Nigeria has been telling us we are broke for the past 2 years? Why are we leading a military action at a time.we can't even afford to subsidize petrol again for our own citizens ? |

BlueRayDick:because they share a border with us. whether we want it or not, we are involved. if it eventually goes the way the liberia went, whatever happens in niger can overflow into nigeria. charles taylor, if i recall, was a major sponsor of the RUF in sierra leone. easy to get blood diamonds if a country is at war, just as it is easy to steal gold from zamfara if there is persistent insecurity |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 1:34am On Aug 05, 2023*. Modified: 2:23am On Aug 05, 2023 |
A40:The country will obviously engulf into civil war that was last years. I don't even understand all these talks about democracy at all cost. Paul Biya is a 90 year old man that has been the president of cameroun before my parents even met. Yet he has the backing of France and America to continue to rule even when he's almost wearing diapers. Is that the kind of democracy tey practise in France and America? Do they have a situation where the president persecutes member of the opposition and silence dissenting voices? The hypocrisy is just stinking to high heavens. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 1:40am On Aug 05, 2023 |
GloriousGbola:They didn't just start sharing border with us today. They are having an internal dispute amongst themselves with the military sacking the democratic government (which is not the first in Africa and won't be the last) Coups will always happen especially in the Francophone countries due to the French policy of assimilation which we've discussed extensively in the past. We do not have the resources to be doing big brother Africa like we used to in the past. Times have changed. Even if the military action is successful, there's no guarantee the country Niger will experience peace going forward. Something already shifted. They will most likely continue to have internal security challenges, things don't just go back to normal afterwards. |

GloriousGbola:Them don cook better propaganda sell give una. Niger that has been an unstable zone for years. When Wagner begin operate? Is it Wagner that have been running wild in Chad all this time? Is it Wagner that scattered Libya? This is akin to when Bush claimed there was weapon of mass destruction in Iraq and tore the country upside down and didn't see any. What are the resources Nigeria get compared to Russia No take laugh kill me abeg. Russia might not be involved before but they will be now since we have chosen to not mind our business. We literally had territory of the country that wasn't under Nigerian rule a while ago and you're talking of Wagner and Russia. Na wa oh. Shey na Wagner say make you no fit enter Potiskum or comot once 4pm knack ![]() We don't even know for certain who backed this coup but una don begin blame Russia again without proof. So tey you dey tie Russia to ESN. Ma pa mi nau |

BlueRayDick:We like peak fooling in West Africa. Practicing civil rule and calling it democracy We all saw what happened in Senegal and how they shut down the internet Ouattara for CIV President since 2010 turning constitution like amala Biya 40 years president (Cameroon no be ECOWAS member to be fair) Eyadema Papa rule 37 years, pikin don do 18 ![]() Chad - Idris Deby do 30 years e die pikin enter What they want is a nominal 'democracy' people can turn constitution like amala and papa can hand over to pikin so long as them wear agbada ![]() |

These people should stop pretending they are fighting for any yeye democracy. What we can call what is happening in most west African countries is civilian rule that's all Let's just be honest in all we are doing |

A40:just two months ago, we were evacuating our people from a country overrun by wagner backed militia. the citizens in niger are waving RUSSIAN flags. maybe it is a fashion statement . maybe they just happened to be storing russian flags for this occasion. i am sure the default action when celebrating a coup is to start waving the flag of another country nigeria has lithium. i don't know how many times i have to say this before it sinks in. as the west moves towards deadlines for phasing out ICE cars, lithium will be the oil of the future. three countries linked border to border , (with one bordering Niger ) have had successful wagner sponsored coups but you cannot see a connection? why would you be surprised if russia is providing support for ESN? that is the way these things go. the ANC run SA is aligned with russia and will always be because the west did nothing about apartheid during the cold war because of political expediency. the west did not support biafra then, and will not support them now. maybe you do not realize it, but for all intents and purposes, we are back to cold war 2.0. West vs China/Russia/Saudi/Iran. and a major feature of the cold war was if the west is aligned with the govt of country A, Russia aligns with rebels/movements fighting/opposed to the government of country A |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001: 2:19am On Aug 05, 2023 |
A war is the last thing Nigeria needs right now. I don't support any form of military intervention in Niger. It won't end well. |

BlueRayDick:We've saved #1trn already and moving forward, we'll be able to save more subsidy money and then channel it to military invasion.. Wait till financial contribution sharing comes out first.. Let's see how much money all those ECOWAS military generals flying in and out of Nigeria are willing to bring from there countries |

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/7/28/russias-wagner-boss-appears-to-hail-niger-coup-tout-services i am sure aljazeera is also western propaganda Wagner mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin, who remains active despite leading a failed mutiny against the Russian army’s top brass last month, has hailed Niger’s military coup as good news and offered his fighters’ services to bring order.https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/7/19/prigozhin-in-video-tells-wagner-troops-to-prepare-for-africa?traffic_source=KeepReading A new video appears to show the head of Russia’s mercenary Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, welcoming his fighters to Belarus, telling them they would take no further part in the Ukraine war for now but to prepare for “a new journey to Africa“.https://time.com/6300145/wagner-group-niger-future/ |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 2:37am On Aug 05, 2023 |
CrystalTiger:There's no need to wait for any list of contribution sharing. Just take a look at the GDPof other ECOWAS member countries to Naija Where do u think majority of the funding will come from? At least this shows Bode George may not be far from the truth when he said the past military interventions of ECOWAS were majorly financed by Nigeria. Those countries are poor countries, if e didn't dey; e no dey.

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A40(m): 2:49am On Aug 05, 2023 |
GloriousGbola:What flag do you want them to wave? France? USA? What is special about flag? I thought we agreed they are hired protesters so what would it cost a few people sympathetic to Russia to pick a few flags. That proves nothing GloriousGbola:Top 10 countries with Lithum in the world Nigeria no dey there. If it's by Lithium Wagner should be in Chile, Bolivia turning things upside down. Their paddy China is also there to give them all the lithium they can handle. You're just making up conspiracy theories here like Q-Anon and co All coups with 3 completely different circumstances. Abi na the Russia summit you dey use make your inference? I hope you know your VP was also there. You know what that meins 🤷♂️ GloriousGbola:Where is your evidence? You can't keep making wild accusations and not back them up. Russia will sell you weapons if you give them money. That one has always been their M.O since Biafra war days. That is pure business and has nothing to do with alignment. Western countries like US and France literally have bases in these countries and you don't believe they're influences it's weapon seller you're holding responsible |
