There are wrong popular opinions that Niger election was rigged. Are you telling me election was rigged during general election, when the two leading candidates could not secure 50% there was rerun. Are you telling me the election was rigged again,?

Bassoum won the rerun for the second time. mind you, Bassoum was a first timer, he defeated the incumbent twice in an election.
The military junters that overthrow him were appointees of the immediate past government who spent two term of 10 years in office and was going for third term against Niger constitution.

The coup is as results of ethnicity. The immediate past president was Hausa who are about 45% of the population, apparently other ethnic groups in Niger teamed up against them in the last election that brought Bassoum. The Hausas were not satisfied with outcome of the election they plotted coup in 2021 before Bassoum was about to be sworn in, the coup failed, this coup is the second against Bassoum.

Biodun556:
1. No plans to return to democracy.
After overthrowing the govt, coup plotters must make transition to civil rule plan immediately, even though it may not happen soon. The Coupists instead are busy justifying military rule and never reveal intention of returning to democracy

2. They influence other military in neighboring countries.
The coupists encourage other West Africa militaries to overthrow their governments. This sent clear messages to ECOWAS member states. Within 2 years, 4 governments in West Africa were overthrown.

3. Foreign influence
The coupists boldly desplay Russia as their patron. This prompt Western nations that Russia will undermine their interest in Africa

Let African's breath.

4. The body language of the coup plotters shows that they have come to stay. They wrongly believe that military rule is normal, hence they do fashion parade with their military uniform. Most of them never for once dress in civilian wears. This is a very wrong message.

5. Russia will back off once ECOWAS takes decisive actions because what ECOWAS and African union can offer Russia, the coupists in those four countries can not offer it.

That's not Nigerias business, he had experienced a coup before and yet still couldn't get the right people into his presidential guards and now the same presidential guards have ousted him ..Buhari damaged the economy too too much and the new govt needs to focus to get us back on some track before we entertain any external distraction

The coup could end in civil war and Nigeria will still be required to help. Before it gets to that Nigeria should intervene and solve the problem once and for all

Una don finally carry ethnic madness to Niger. The coup is not about election but incompetence, doing the interest of France to the detriment of national interest

If it ends in civil war it will affect Northern Nigeria and then Nigeria...it's very dicey , the best solution is to push the plotters to release a new election time table not later than 12 months and bar both the coupists and Bazoum from contesting...my fear is that Tinubus govt is too young to be dragged into this , remember Tinubu has inherited the worst economy in Nigerias history

Well-informed people know that Niger coup is an ethnic affair.
The so-called pro-coup protest are nothing but sponsored anti-minority hate march.
Some clowns on this forum who can't even locate Niger on a map
have been claiming the "people" are 100% behind the junta.
Who are the "people"?

Imagine..

2 terms of ten years & he’s still wanting a 3rd term..

People behind this coup are still politicians. Using military to cover face. This is what many don’t know..

Dude, Niger Republic is basically a French colony, the coup has toppled France and France is trying to use Nigeria to get Niger Republic back.

The supporters of deposed president will not be allowed to air their voice.

If ECOWAS should continue with the planned military action, you will see those who opposed the coup also coming out to celebrate

When Mali send soldiers to come and assist the military junters against ECOWAS, they were ambushed by the supporters of the deposed president

Nobody is using Nigeria. Any military officer that feels he has what it takes to move the country forward should resign and contest in the election. The man that was removed by the army officers in Niger republic defeated a sitting president. Just imagine peter obi won the presidential election in Nigeria and some military officers take over from him through a coup.

They seem excited and are ready to fight to defended the coupists. Tinubu is the one promoting vawulence on behalf of SW Nigeria and Ecowas. The North and East are not excited at the prospect of war.
