I wrote my final exam papers early this year but I have 2 more extra year due to some exams I still have to write and my industrial training. My GP is terrible and I'm generally bad at academics as a result of my course of study which I absolutely detest. Now, I'm learning video editing and motion design online and I am getting good at it. I am contemplating dropping out of school entirely to focus on this field as it has proven to be very lucrative for others in it. I haven't told anyone this yet but I need your advice please. Should I ditch school completely and focus on my craft or waste 2 years in school finishing a course I have zero interest in?

But your certificate will still be useful in future even if it is pass, try combine the two. Peace

Try finish your school. If you are an excellent video editor in Nigeria, it won't matter that you graduated with third class. But it will matter a lot that you did not graduate at all. That will always hang over your head. I know friends who are earning fat salaries working as software engineers because they taught themselves how to code. However, having that third class degree they graduated with was one of the things that got their foot in the door in the first place.

My recommendation to you will be to not take that break. I figure you are very young, but you shouldn't let this new passion detract you from what is real. Trust me, you may regret it in the future if you do not complete that degree. At this point, it doesn't matter what you finish with, even if it's a third class. Just try finish the degree. Think about it like this, there are people who have combined their studies and their learning of something different on the side. So, it shouldn't be rocket science. You too can do it. Don't think you need to drop out of school to assimilate better. Furthermore, it's not like school is completely stopping you from learning your stuff by the side. Just prioritize your efforts and put more effort into what you want to learn.

I went back to school after dropping out for three years. I saw the need of having a degree after getting into the labour market, beside that, the regrets was on my head, the regrets followed me everywhere. Any top business partner or Job I met, they asked of my degree firstly. I lost serious opportunities because I dropped out.

Sometimes I wonder how people without first degree survive.

Even if it's HND, get it. And that OND is completely useless too.

Good thing is, you can get a masters to make up for your nonsense grade in bsc or get another bsc, but first, you must graduate with anything.
