On the other hand, there is a way of looking at it that does not involve conspiracy theories.

The fact is, we were not prepared for covid 19, and several years before, the appearance of the ebola virus in the developed world nearly created serious panic...and I mean panic.

Hence, the research folks are getting ready for any strange virus that decides to mutate in nature, and cause havoc.

Yes, viruses mutate on their own...that is how we ended up with Ebola...ebola was once a virus confined to animals, then it mutated and jumped into humans.

IN 1918, hundreds of people died due to a flu virus that had mutated from the regular flu virus and spread rapidly. And no it was not developed in any lab...as our knowledge of flu viruses was very very primitive then...people did not know how DNA, RNA or even viruses worked then.

It is better we be ready, or we face what we faced in 1918 where thousands died for nothing.
