Manchester City last faced the Clarets in the 2022/23 FA Cup quarter-final where an Erling Haaland hat-trick alongside goals from Julian Alvarez (two) and Cole Palmer secured a fine 6-1 win.

The Norwegian struck twice inside three minutes just after the half hour mark to hand us a commanding lead against a dogged Burnley side.

And he then completed his then sixth treble of the term 14 minutes into the second half to take his tally for the season to an incredible 42 goals in March.

Amidst a raucous Etihad atmosphere, Alvarez then bagged a brace with substitute Palmer also getting on the scoresheet as Pep Guardiola’s side stormed into the last four.


LAST TIME OUT
We narrowly lost to Arsenal after a penalty shootout in the Community Shield at Wembley.

Substitute Cole Palmer fired City ahead with a wonderful strike in the 77th minute with a left-foot curler into the top corner from the edge of the box.

But Arsenal equalised 11 minutes into injury time when Leandro Trossard’s low shot deflected off Manuel Akanji, wrongfooting Stefan Ortega Moreno taking the game to penalties.

In the shootout, Kevin De Bruyne hit the bar and Aaron Ramsdale saved Rodrigo’s penalty while the Gunners scored all of their four penalties.
