I'll like to think that those who can afford the 2014 corolla at this point have decent money to maintain it properly. And with the ever increasing price of cars not show any signs of slowing down, it will take a longer time before that happens.

The Murano didn't even last this long before they bastardized it. The Corolla is now in its 9th year post production.

I remember in 2010 or so, I was at my then mechanic. At his neighbours setup, a 2007 - 2011 Toyota Camry just had an oil change and one of those oil treatment concoctions was being added to the car.
Guy was definitely rich to afford a current model Camry at the time. Just imagine what the combo of consistent 20w-50 + thick oil treatment would have done to the engine.
