The only thing I can code of my head is css!!! But anything pertaining to backend, I can't do it. Not like If I see others code I won't understand it. I want to ask am I the only one experiencing this!!. Let say I want to write a login function in java, I can't write it off my head but I know the steps to follow to do it.

Guy nobody can write any meaningful code off head. I have 🐝 coding for years but you'd be surprised that sometimes i still go back to my text books to understand again something that is as simple as if else statement.

I have coding since 5 yrs and guess what I visit stack overflow any time I want to start a new project or go back to my previous project just to copy and paste

Programming is just like joining puzzle pieces together. If you understand how to join the pieces together & a foundation of how each puzzle piece is made you are good.

Though there'll come a time when you need to show you're a real wizard by force, esp when you face some problems you can't see code on Google to copy & paste and your survival depends on it, you will code from your head by force that's if you're really a programmer, am not talking computer science graduate.

Even too engineers code from other sources , how do you want to master thr syntax from many libraries in your heax

every one uses google, u just need to know what your doing

OP you aren't left behind, with chatgpt it has helped me speed up my task. I give thanks I understood the foundation and my background was very solid before Chatgpt came up. It's not that, we are dull or can't code, at times it make work easy and fast with dozens of work on the table.

Despite that, I am currently taking a course on design patterns and architecture. To create reusable codes, libraries and framework for my work.

It's normal as long as you know what you are doing.
