The economy will soon crash. Government agencies and institutions can't work 5 days a week anymore is this your idea of economics growth?? This president at this rate may be eased out of office sooner than 4yrs if he continues on the delusion that things will get better as they are progressively getting worse. Remember many pastors said he was not a good choice for Nigerians and almost immediately what was seen spiritually is manifesting.

Lol. So there are inefficiencies contributing to fuel price hike and Tinubu did not deem it fit to remove them until now?
Is that not a sign Nigerians were being ripped off to satisfy subsidy cabal with high prices?

They can deny anything they desire but crude oil price is closer to ,$90pb, which would obviously.alter.the landing cost coupled with the depreciation in exchange rate.
There should be no background introduction of subsidy. We are either doing the proper thing or being jokers. Do not create new sets of billionaires by introducing temporary subsidy. It has no economic justification
The government should use the same energy it adopted to remove subsidy to provide the citizens palliatives. There is a disconnect between painful government policies and palliatives. Whatever benefits the citizens takes.ages to implement.
What is very obvious now is it was all audio the thinking that PBAT was the most prepared of all the candidates in the election..He was never prepared. Why is he not allocating portfolios to the cleared ministers after more than one week?. Inflation has eaten.deep into the planned palliatives yet the citizens continue to wallow in pains

BAT obviously has no idea what he is doing in government or simply doesn't care as long as he is president.

The manner of the subsidy removal is fraudulent, thoughtless & a sign of government's failure to be responsible to its duties.

Two key reasons for removing fuel subsidy are smuggling & the corruption by a few.

Now, what the government should have done first, in my opinion, are:

1. Do more to secure the borders. Invest in technology tracking & surveillance systems. Sanction security officials through whose sectors fuel is smuggled out.

2. Go after the cabal in the fuel subsidy sector. The private & public characters involved must made to answer for thier alleged crimes & the proceeds confisticated. They cannot be allowed to go scot-free with thier loot & Nigerians made to suffer.

Thier cases should be fast tracked.

3. Increase the price of fuel to 250-300 band. This will take a bit of pressure off government in the interim pending when it can fully sanitise the fuel subsidy regime. This price will still be affordable for majority of Nigerians without the need of providing palliative.

4. Review downwards associated costs/charges/taxes that add to the price of fuel in Nigeria. Tackle security bottlenecks & extortionists.

5. Immediately undertake a priority revamp of the refineries to get local production up to at least 70% in the first instance.

6. Institute a clear policy to encourage modular refineries & monitor thier development.

7. The confiscated properties of fuel subsidy bandits should be invested in maintaining the refineries, supporting modular refineries, investing in tracking technology for smuggled fuel & paying for subsidies (if any).

That subsidy should go is not the issue, but the process of its removal must be transparent, fair & well-thought-out.

Your reviews ain't bad but with the level of corruption In Nigeria removing of subsidy is the only way to curb the fraud in that sector. Will Tinubu go to the boarders himself to secure it ? It's fellow Nigerians like you and I that'll still be sent there. In Nigeria virtually everyone is corrupt in one way of the other but we don't blame ourselves only the leaders. Without the masses aiding corruption for the leaders those leaders ain't powerful.

This excerpt doesn't contain the part where FG displayed a chart of current PMS prices in other West African countries. The Moronic fellows did not place the chart side-by-side the minimum wage, energy index and GDP of those countries.

It goes to show we have very wicked and crooked people in power. They can't compare the pecks of the offices they occupy with those of their counterparts in developed nations. No where in the world do elected representatives have superfluous gluttonous tastes like in Nigeria. When it comes to the citizens, they'll be drawing up maps.

God will punish them and their supporters.

You are simply excusing government failure. If a leader, by thoughts & actions, shows he has zero tolerance for corruption, everyone will sit up.

How can the masses be made to suffer because BAT is too chickenshit to go after the real thieves? So BAT rather punish 200m people than go after a few hundred thieves?

BAT himself said the subsidy thieves met & said he should collect his share but he declined. This implies he knows them, so why hasn't he gone after them?

A former governor said some subsidy thieves told him that they were tired of ripping the country off, why has government not taken action?

If security agents are posted at borders & massive smuggling still occurs, what stops president from wielding the big hammer on the head of that agency? Is it not the same borders that have been sealed up today due to the Niger issue?

If the issue of chronic corruption is not curbed, there can be no progress. No matter what policy is implemented, it will be hijacked & abused as long as no one is held accountable & brought to book.

The person to lead nigeria must be ready to sanitise the system at the risk of his/her life. Anything less, is not going to cut it.

You think say those ones get sense...

They just admitted there's no immediate need to increase pump price despite their claim of rise in the landing cost. They want to keep the price as it is according to Tinubu spokesman. It means they will pay subsidy to the marketers to calm down for now, that's if they've not been paying already.

I for one don't even believe in this subsidy removal because I have a strong reason to believe subsidy payment will resurface under a new name before December. With the report of temporary subsidy payment and the later denial, they are only testing the waters. The thieves are paying subsidy and it won't be long before they will be busted

Exactly 👍

It’s not easy as you think , Nigeria’s democracy is still fragile you can’t Toss and turn the military chiefs without caution ⚠️ what about the senate and house of reps ? These guys can pass a no confidence vote on you if you shake them too heavy lastly the masses will definitely be divided with ethnicity and religion to support such drastic moves by the presidency, you can’t achieve your submission through democracy It’s only a military dictator with good intentions that can do what you think without fear .
