Ministerial appointments are mostly administrative positions. While technical knowledge is important, it is not a deal breaker. Being a good manager is "importanter."

And here I be, trying to figure out how well Festus Keyamo "managed" his previous appointment and attendant tasks. Man who bungled the initiative of 774,000 national employment slots put on his laps and failed to properly account for its outcome to this day.

Same man is the Aviation minister today. He definitely will end up with a performance more abysmal than what FFK delivered in the same office over 8years ago.

Where does it say in the constitution that a former retired military personnel must be the Defence Minister?

In recruitment, some skills are termed desirable but not essential.

If it is that critical, it should be made into law. If it is not, then it should not be an issue, whoever ends up in the position should be judged on how they eventually perform.

After all their Commander in Chief is a politician.

Inter forces rivalry is what ruined the response to terrorism. If any of the arms is to be named- it would be army - only reinforcing their sense of superiority over other arms. PBAT has already lanced that boil by appointing an ex police man to NSA advisor. The role of the MoD is understand, secure resources and report back to PBAT. It is not to detail strategy. That should be left to serving professionals.

In looking at the appointed ministers profile in relating with portfolios it seem this administration will fumble at the end. Because some of them do have idea on the portfolio given to them.
I truely supported this party during election-time but the way the administration is managing the Sate affairs it seem they just want to have their own cake out of the National cake. "Emi lokan"
