I disagree with the embolden. If anything, a legitimate argument can be made that we have been lucky over the last 2 games. Both games could have ended in draws. While we have gotten 6 points, we have not been convincing and there are serious underlying tactical issues with the way we are executing our plays.
You seemed to forget our two matches against Aston Villa and Fulham. Those are the two games where we struggled but had to grind out the wins. Yes, our last two games have not been convincing so also were the first couple of games last season.

Against Crystal Palace, we were under immense pressure until the second goal. The Leceister City game was a bit opened but the fact that we conceded 2 goals said it all. However, my point is that we started building momentum from the second or third game. Same thing can still happen so why worrying?
Only against Crystal palace we didn't dominate them and that's understandable seeing that it's the first match. From the 2nd match we dominated almost everyone from there. Even the first goal that we conceded against Leicester was an unforced error own goal and not because of poor defence.

Moreover, the main reason why I'm worrying is the structure. Even the games against Villa and Fulham were we scored dying minutes goals, we dominated them and created loads of chances from beginning till the end.

All that is lacking this season all because of the structure and Havertz

We're still saying the same Jodera... We had to score a late goal to grab the whole 3 points against Aston Villa. How does that imply a convincing performance? The structure is not lacking. Put Havertz at your blindspot and you will see the while picture clearly.

Every season is different. What we are watching are obvious fundamental issues with our tactics that need to be addressed because it is affecting our execution.

Once again, Arteta is complicating simple things and being stubborn about it even with obvious signs. With Tomi suspended, I wait to see what he does with the defense. I know he loves to play at least 3 CBs at the back irrespective of the formation and invert 1 of his fullbacks but this is not looking good tactically.

During the preseason, we saw Tomi get smoked against United when he was fielded as a LB but of course Arteta goes ahead and play him as a LB and the result wasn’t any different because he got smoked again.

Can the EPL address officiating for once?

Tomi’s first yellow card was absolutely wrong because he did not exceed the time allotted and the 2nd yellow is a travesty!

Executing a new tactic is not as straightforward as you think. It takes a lot of time which is why teams do struggle at the early stage.
Zinny will come in for Tomi. One of Partey, Havertz or Rice might get a rest. Or Kiwior might just come in and Partey will take his place at RB.

Better to play not so well and win than play well and loose.
3 points is the most important.
In so far as the not so well does not occur everytime.
Clearly we all can see that arteta has changed position of players and probably tactics.
Let give them time to see how they caan make it work.
But one thing i know thus is how pep dey craze.
E remain small for Ederson to become midfielder.
I also remember pep using fernando as CB even when he was performing at DM.

The thing be say na this season we suppose dey get one cup epl or UCL especially EPL . UCL is still a tall order as our experience has not gotten to us pushing to finals.
Let's hope we demolish Fulham

Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Havertz10: 8:52am On Aug 23, 2023
I haven’t really watched arsenal games ever but after the first game, noticed that Havertz was getting dragged, so I decided to watch that game and made plans to watch the game on Monday.

My issue with Chelsea fans is their broad ignorance of game dynamics, i’m not blaming anyone in particular, most don’t have plans to become coaches, so I don’t expect them to understand the game in-depth but I expected better from arsenal fans

Against palace, Havertz cover shadowing protected the left, Palace could only attack from the right, it’s not surprising that arteta removed all the attackers and left only Havertz, most players only touch the ball a few times during the game, your actions off the ball are equally valuable, when it comes to covering space, very few are comparable to Havertz

Always knew that he would excel in midfield, his defensive work is elite and his duel numbers for arsenal are remarkable, heard that he has won the most duels in the team

Where Havertz would really stand out even more is in big games, most with good eyes, saw how his cover shadowing nullified city.

Last season when Xhaka was playing in that role we saw with our two koro-koro eyes what he brings to the pitch both on and off the ball.

E reach Havertz turn this season na contribution invisible to naked eyes, microscope and even binoculars we just dey hear about .

Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 9:32am On Aug 23, 2023
There's a saying that Off the ball qualities is as IMPORTANT as On the ball qualities. And we all know on the ball qualities is more important than off the ball qualities even though the latter shouldn't be neglected

All the defence about Havertz na only off the ball qualities. Notice how on the ball qualities are always muted

If all arsenal players dey do off the ball qualities without actually doing the other, where we go dey?

Like I said, except na spiritual football we dey watch wey need spiritual eyes to dey see all wetin him dey do, make Una talk so make I know

Jesus play ball last season, we all saw his off the ball duties for front. E clear for our eyes, nobody needed to be an analytical coach to see wetin him bring.

Trossard came Jan, we saw how his off the ball and how it helped others excelled. Nobody needed analytical coach to tell us wetin dey plain.

Xhaka did same thing in midfield last season. Nobody needed analytical coach to help us explain it.

Our Captain Odegaard last season was the king of off the ball move and duties. We no need go coaching school to know wetin e mean.

All these players got one thing In common alongside off the ball duties and that was ON THE BALL QUALITIES!!

E reach Havertz turn, we don deh hear how off the ball duties and shadow marking needed a whole new pair of eyes. Or how we need become coach to know wetin him dey bring

It took Xhaka years to get to that level. I remember how we all felt when Arteta blocked Xhaka from joining Roma 2 seasons ago because we all wanted him gone. Let's give Harvertz some more time...

I got some of these info about Havertz online...

Kai Havertz has covered the most total distance among Arsenal players in the Premier League this season 🏃‍♂️
1️⃣ Kai Havertz - 23.2km
2️⃣ Declan Rice - 22.8km
3️⃣ Thomas Partey - 22.1km
4️⃣ Martin Ödegaard - 22.1km
5️⃣ Bukayo Saka - 20.3km

Kai Havertz has MOST DUELS WON for the second game in a row

Kai Havertz stats vs Palace:
24/27 Passes
2 Chances created
90% Pass accuracy
39 Touches
4 Passes into Final third
3 Recoveries
.
I am not yet a fan of Havertz and I still don't know why we spent that amount to get him, but let's still give Arteta enough benefits of doubt that he knows what he is doing...maybe Harvetz will be a key to us "Harvesting" many cups.

We need your contribution here boss. And yea, the B2B disappointments was somewhat devastating but hopefully we get something hooogggeee this time around.
Sth hoogggeee and Arteta don start he brain fart tactics again. Well, on the other hand I like it at least it will give opposition false up we are not a threat this season while we keep garnering 3points every match.

What do I mean they are some matches he doesn't need to play beautifully just grind the results and they are some matches we must play beautifully and table result etc.

From my end I believe he is trying to fit in both Rice and Havertz into the system on ground tho he has to tweak his tactics to achieve that hence we Partey playing FB... I sha hope it works out successful.

Very objective mindset.

When I defend Havertz it's not saying he should be MOTM. It's just an explanation of what he brings. If Havertz does his job well, players like Jesus, Martinelli and Saka will enjoy him. They will have tons of spaces to operate.

I expect Jodera, Blueraydick and Sod09 to carefully analyse these points you raised.

😂😂😂

You talk as if anyone has said he should be MOTM.

I recall during the UCL finals against Barcelona. Wenger opted to start a relatively unknown Fabregas in midfield and instead of Flamini who had be impressive that season.

If you watched that match, Fabregas had few touches but his off the ball movements were top notched. This helped us control the midfield until the pipe bursted because of Almunia.

Havertz like Fabregas is a player that does one touch passing. It's hard to notice if you are not focused on him.

I implore you to focus on him and give us a report this weekend.

Saliba misplaced his ball which gave Eduard a chance at goal. But Saliba raced back and made a timely tackle to save the day.

What makes good defenders is not making mistakes but such ability to correct those mistakes.

Mustafi is a good defender until he makes a mistake.

Saliba is a good defender even if he makes a mistake.

Stats don't lie. That's what they said and that's why managers use them. Stats don't reveal the whole picture but they do reveal something.

Those stats on Havertz are they real? That's the question.
