What did Fayemi achieve in that post? A square peg in a round whole. My only advice to him will be to sort out the resource control issue if he can. This is part of the reasons state governments are doing nothing about the large deposits under their soil. |

The only the tin/colombite on plateau state, nassarrawa,and Ibadan can be mined in commercial quantity. Only 10-20% of tin was mined in plateau state, since it discovery. |

The problem with the untapped solid minerals has to do with the Nigerian constitution that forbids states from refining them or granting licenses for that, some states would have improved if they are allowed to refine them.
Rather, all solid minerals are controlled by the federal government, whose focus is mainly on oil. Even the ministry of solid minerals is funded by oil money, which is weird - states should be allowed to refine their solid minerals rather than leaving them unattended to. 1 Like 1 Share |

The problem with Nigeria is Nigerians. We have a lot of foolish people in this country Mineral resources or deposit dont make a nation rich. The quality of human resources or human capital development is what makes a nation prosper. Being able to add value to resources and prudently manage the resultant commerce is what brings prosperity. Nigeria has none of this I agree with the latter part but saying mineral deposits cannot enrich a country is absurd,,, |
