So after collecting billions on billions from FG and CBN at padi-padi rate through the corners, we still have got nothing.
So the nation lost monetary value to please one man's ego and I'm sure he just round-tripped that money and pocketed the change.

This country is fargone, I'm sorry to say.

The refiner's are the one of the bottle neck behind non functional refinery in Nigeria. They knew that they may face low patronage that is why they keep bribing those incharge to sabotage the process.
I think it's better for marketers to merge their fund to buy than than to take credit that will generate interest in future, therefore they may pay higher to offset the credit if dollars increase.

It has become a buyer's market!
Cut throat competition amidst dwindling global demand is pushing refiners into such desperation yet Dangote is still projecting to complete his world's largest refinery by 2025 grin grin grin I hope by that time he won't be offering them "buy one tanker and get two tankers free" grin grin grin

Greed has made him not to be reasonable anymore. Someone that should have built a much smaller refinery and complete it three years ago!

I pity Nigerians that are hoping on Dangote refinery to make fuel cheaper. This man will definitely sell even higher than the global rates so he can cut down on his overhead costs and also recover his invested funds/loans ASAP grin grin

Am with you on this,he should have built smaller refinery in three diff states or at least 2 state,Lagos due to high consumption and delta due to availability of crude oil, about him selling higher than international rate,I hope many modular ref. Will be ready before 2025 and fed govt need to privatise all our refineries
Re: Foreign Refiners Woo Marketers With Credit Facilities by Naijanascam: 9:49am On Aug 24, 2023
And our government are not thinking of owning one in the the nearest future......

Borrowing money and sharing crumbs to their miserable citizens in the name of palliatives while keeping the largest Chunk to themselves

Whixh yeye people? Are they not businessmen?? Are the ones stopping your government from having a working refinery? Where is the Dangote refinery your govt invested 25% stake in and promised Nigerians huh August ending is already here and you are blaming international refiners for offering credit facilities for their businesses. Did you know NNPC is still the major importer of petrol into the countryhuh
business men decrease price when demand is less not these forceful buying. I just hope our negative behaviour of not paying debt would linger on in these approach.
Re: Foreign Refiners Woo Marketers With Credit Facilities by Kukutente23: 9:53am On Aug 24, 2023
While speaking at the ceremony heralding the first importation by independent marketers in July, Emadeb Energy’s Chief Executive Officer, Adebowale Olujimi, said petrol importation was no longer “sustainable.”

According to him, resuscitating local refining is “the way to go”.

“Petrol importation is not a sustainable way for a country to run. PMS price rising to over N600 per litre is an indication that the dynamics of the business are a tough one. It requires huge US dollars to bring products. The way forward is for local refineries to be revived,” he said.
Nairalanda1 another one. A major importer has also dropped importation like hot potatoes.
I thought investors will run into the country and start importing massively once subsidy is removed. You can hear now that they don't have the means to import.

The bad part of this news is that if it happens, local refining is as good as gone because a Dangote refinery cannot afford to give products on credit due to the harsh environment he operates in while foreign refineries can afford to with conditions that ensure those marketers don't take products from anywhere else but them until the credit is exhausted. In other words, our downstream sector will be tied to foreign companies who will simply manipulate as they wish.

I don't know how hard it is to build a refinery. Even the local consumption in Africa will go along way. we simply have saboteurs who are not ready to let go.

The major reason he is building world's largest refinery is to monopolize Nigeria's market. He knows if he build smaller ones, other investors will build too and he won't be able to have monopoly.

Any sector he gets involved, he monopolizes it but if he fails to monopolize, he won't survive in it.

Tomato, Noodles, Table water, Juice etc are the sectors he failed in because he couldn't monopolize them.

He has partial monopoly in cement and that's why the price keeps rising astronomically.

Unfortunately, modular refineries can't force down price when you have world's largest refinery operating in the same market. They will only follow on the price Dangote dictates.
