But we really bought mamy carpenters o. Debuchy, Lichstein and... Howwwweeeeeeeeeee

My chest. How we take do am?? This club can survive Global recession o. Man u can't survive what we survived. Omo. We even sack Mascot at a point. Chai
Under Ebening, we used £70m on 5 first team players ( Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi) !!!! 1st team players oh, not squad or anything but folks want to tell me it’s all Wenger as though we were splashing post Wenger.

Why did fans start rioting post Wenger? With no one to scapegoat and no top 4, didn’t the truth become obvious?

Thank you sir for not swallowing the convenient Kool Aid the board and media were parading. Anyone who does an intentional non-biased research into our finances, ownership will realize what happened during that time. This is why I asked oyinda, post Wenger and Ebening and the early years of Arteta, did we start splashing?

We got Peperempe, how did we pay? It took a massive riot by the fans against the Kroenkes, especially after they planned to join the superleague before they started spending. Infact, Ebening came out and said we can only afford to loan players because money no dey!

https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11670/11603617/unai-emery-confirms-arsenal-will-only-sign-loan-players-in-january-transfer-window

https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2019/jan/18/arsenal-era-austerity-emery-finance-stan-kroenke-champions-league

Below is a link of Arteta begging the Korenke’s for funds early into his reign.

I choose to believe Wenger who has remained defiant about it.

This Kroenke sef, na Josh put extinguisher on the thing. Else, to understand how bad hin papa dey do to Arsenal, just go read American tabloids about him and the way he runs those clubs there.

Our board were terrible towards buying or should i say, spending. And that was the truth.

The money dey but it was unavailable, dey no dey see am. Lol.

I remember that Ebening loan talk.

Like i said, we have Arteta to thank for factory reset to the memory of those heart wrenching years. Infact if only is not careful, we'll almost forget Ozil was once a big deal yesteryears. Until you watch highlights.

I encourage everyone to take sometime to read the links below. I have been privy to this info since 2021 but I think it is important to share this so that you can have a deeper perspective whenever you debate certain issues, especially the finances of our club.

Stan is a ruthless capitalist, you would almost think he is an Italian mafia. Yes, it took a while but Josh has eased things up. However, it also took pressure from the fans who were willing the keep the protests going.

Remember, at the peak of the riots and protests in 2021, Stan had to send Josh to make a public broadcast, where they assured fans that the club would not only back out of the super league but start investing in players so we can become competitive again.

Wenger was the easiest scape goat and he was too loyal he kept a lot in his chest. Even in his book, which I am happy to know you read, he remained complimentary to almost everyone, except for Mourinho.

Was Wenger frugal? Yes, when he needed to and based on the financial realities of the club at the time. He asked for Benzema, what did the board tell him? The narrative that Wenger had 100M, some said 200M to spend under board ownership and sat on it is one I will push back on because it is totally false!

Once again, Mikel Arteta has done a huge spin around. Esp with mentality.

Jodera:
Most of those signings weren't marquee signings. They were just quality low key signings just as how we bought them fabregas and Édouardo which was testament of Arsene good eyes for talent. The difference is that we were able to hold onto those players compared to latter years.

The signing and spending we're talking about is marquee signings.
Like I said, Wenger was more about getting players that with different talent from what the managers then were used to. For example, playing a double pivot with Vieira and Petit was a new idea, as most managers then use a DM and an AM. Again he used wingers as strikers against the usual big bulky strikere popular those days. Again Wenger wasn't afraid of big signings like when he got Bergkamp and Vieira. Those were big money moves then. The others were just excellent talent spotting.

Wenger chose to do things differently. Some call it arrogance most of us call it genius.

Like i said, there are many false narratives about le prof that many Arsenal fans need to shake off if they did from two sources

His book
And the American tabloids as well

I saw the light. Thank God you dropped many links. Anyone that wants to keep that perception about Le prof like it was absolutely his fault, OYO.

It is like the Suarez 40M + 1 bid. How many Arsenal fans here know the truth about that bid?

But guess what? If you ask them now, they would immediately blame Wenger and argue forever.

I know the truth everyone does
We activated Suarez release clause, lfc then say we should add something at least wengay joked about adding 1 pound to it
Lfc got angry wengay didn’t push further even when Suarez was keen on the move but the 1 pound changed his mind and he signed extension then moved to Barca for a high price
Why should we not blame wengay?

Hahahahahahahaaaaa…See what I mean. Did Suarez even have a release clause? Or was 40M his valuation according to Liverpool?

Wenger wanted Suarez just like he wanted, Higuain, Cavani and Benzema. He did not make the bid or suggest the addition of 1, he wasn’t the one in charge of making those deals. Also, to be clear, Suarez still wanted to join, it was LFC that turned down the offer.

Read the link below.. I will post one with a longer detail of how Suarez got disillusioned at Liverpool and his conversation with Wenger before any bid.

Thank you!

You have said it all. Many of us didn't see the true picture of things until Wenger left.

Baba was covering a lot of things and making all the sacrifices for the club, still doing his best to keep us in Europe.

Maybe if he had known he will be compelled to leave before getting to the promisedland like the Biblical Moses, he would have acted differently.

Wenger was really so passionate about Arsenal and he didn't see himself leaving at the time, and after leaving Arsenal despite many offers, he couldn't settle to accept one and manage another club or country team.

I don't know why I feel sad about this. The guy is good no doubt, but even I as a manager will start Zinny before him... but he is too good to be on the bench.

From the bottom of my heart, I really wish him good luck...but not against Arsenal.

I always tell people to look at it this way.
During Wenger’s reign how many Arsenal fan living in Nigeria knew what type of ownership we had? What the board was, who were the members, their powers and designations?

Remember, we did not have social media then and had to rely on complete sports newspaper and very early football analysts. If you asked any Arsenal fan in Nigeria at the time, who was in charge of Arsenal, the immediate response would be Arsene Wenger, he was the face of the club. Consequently, any decision, good or bad was his in our eyes.

Wenger never threw anyone under the bus until the lies became too much then he became public about the situation and pushed back on the board.

At least, we can now agree that it wasn’t Wenger or Wenger’s idea to add the + 1 as generally assumed.

There was a reason only Arsenal were chasing Suarez at the time. Many clubs did not believe Suarez had a release clause.

If he had a release clause and it was met, LFC had an obligation to release the player, especially if personal terms have been agreed.

What are your thoughts about Tierney leaving?

For me, the reality is that he is never going to fit into how Arteta wants to play with his fullbacks.

I was thinking an EPL team would come for him. I hope he has a good season with R. Sociedad

Tierney is way better than just sitting on the bench and looking at Arteta style of play he doesn't fit his pattern, and Arteta won't start him, it is better he leaves to get him enough playing time to stay fit.

I like him, but am always very honest and objective with myself... If Arteta believe in him, he won't bother buying Timber.

I hope he works on his attacking prowess and watches his diet so as to minimize his injury.

I honestly hope arteta don't have excuse this season because right now zinny is the only natural lb we have who is injury prone
I think Newcastle came for him but we won't sell to a direct rival

So far, just academy boiz selling high and then getting even higher wherever they go.
