Seun should start banning these type of stupid threads. It takes us nowhere as a nation. Only an idiot would think a country suffering from revenue challenge would reduce the cost of a product which it has no influence over. Just because a commodity is being sold at market price then a government should be toppled! Ah! Nairaland is becoming too uneducative for me.
The idea is entirely stupid one. If local govt refineries work fuel can sell for lower than the current price by N200

Seun is a lame duck who is scared stiff of the Obidiõt mob, he won't do anything to stop this kind of thread

From a christian background you be tolerant but not for Islam. Muslims in Nigeria view politics from a religious point of view

They're all dangerous. Politicians use the pastors to control the people.

The first coup in Nigeria was an Igbo coup

Let's transfer this analogy to garri. We produce the cassava, even the equipments for the production of garri is very cheap and is produced locally. So why is garri expensive? Like I said earlier, Nigeria is a country with revenue challenge, so why do you want the country to continue subsidizing a product which it has no influence over?
If you must know, yes we own the oil but we don't produce it. Multinational companies do. We have to pay them for it.

How do u even think?

Nigeria is blessed with crude yet we import it..

What about refining the crude?

What about selling petrol at cheaper prices.

We are suffering from man made poverty..

Yes we have crude oil in the ground but we don't produce it. Multinational oil companies do and we have to pay them market price for it. You expect us to use the money made from tax, royalties, shares etc to import PMS and sell it at a subsidized rate while some persons smuggle this same subsidized PMS that we bought with our scarce resources to other countries! There are no two ways about this. Either you eat your future today or you eat it tomorrow but know this you must pay for it one way or the other.
One thing I've come to observe is that most people are not really against subsidy removal, what they're against is Tinubu dishing out the subsidy removal. If it were Obi, they would gladly accept it. Is that not hypocrisy?

I want Nigeria to refine her crude herself and sell at a cheaper price… Not subsidize

It’s has lots of economical advantages.

Let me give an example: Goods manufactured in Nigeria will be cheaper if the we refine and sell at a cheaper price.

I am against importing PMS, etc.

Pls stop supporting bad government, cos u are a Yoruba.

Fuel subsidy should not even exist in Nigeria.

All the refineries must work….

Guy man ur reasoning is so daft…

Harris is expensive cos other staple foods and cost of living in Nigeria is expensive.

So garri sellers have to up the prices to enable them survive…

You know how things cost in Nigeria compared to the francophone countries around us?

If rice becomes very cheap, garri will also become very cheap…

The fun fact is that most people calling for the bolded, if government were to step in and start telling them to sell their products/goods/services below market price to 'let the poor breathe', they will start complaining.

Subsidy removal is painful, but keeping it at this time....

My only regret is that we did not remove this thing since 2012, or even 1993. By now we would have forgotten about the matter. But trust Nigeria, good decisions are always taken twenty years or more late.

The history of the Soviet Union and many atheistic countries it helped form tells me otherwise.

Human beings are very intolerant people. If Nigeria became an atheist nation, we would find something to divide ourselves about.

You should go and read about the Lysenko controversy. Especially when you realize that all the people involved were atheists.

Personally, as a religious chresitian, I don't think that Nigeria would progress if we all followed my religion. Progress is a more complex issue.

you can now see how stupid the OP sounds. I was just following his analogy that since crude oil is found in the ground in Nigeria, it must be cheap and sold for N200.
