Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has taken a strong stance against several Nigerian commercial banks, including Access Bank, Guarantee Trust Bank, and Polaris Bank. This comes after it was brought to his attention that an individual had utilized his name to establish accounts with these banks.

Expressing deep concern, Mr P has raised apprehensions regarding the potential misuse of these accounts by the account holder to deceive unsuspecting individuals who might erroneously believe they are associated with the well-known ‘Mr P’. Given the widespread recognition of his brand, Mr P finds it perplexing that esteemed institutions like banks would allow accounts to be created with a name that holds significant global recognition.

One point of contention for Mr P is that opening an account with any bank in Nigeria necessitates the provision of biometric data and a national identification number. He has posed a valid question regarding how the individual in question was able to establish these accounts without complying with these essential prerequisites.

Taking matters into his own hands, Mr P has engaged his legal team to address this issue. He has firmly stated his intention to take the banks involved to court for their role in allowing these accounts to be created under his name.

His statement reads;
“Enough is Enough!!!
It’s either it’s an inside job or otherwise! I have a name to protect here and save some of this innocent victims! So get ready for me and my legal team!
How can @polarisbankltd allow someone to open an account in the name of “PETER PSQUARE OKOYE” and @myaccessbank you also allowed someone open an account name “PETER OKOYE PSQUARE ”without valid means of identification, no biometrics, no BVN, no verified address or even utility bill to correspond with the address of the account owner.
Now they are using my name to scam innocent people! I am Suing this Banks for damages and calling them out! One after the other! @officialefcc take note! Enough is enough!

Even @gtbank also has a customer that is scamming people under the name “PETER OKOYE PSQUARE”
It is sad and disappointing that our financial institutions are not reliable and cannot be trusted. 🚩 What is BVN & NINS used for in the first place? Naija we are in big trouble!”

In essence, Peter Okoye, a.k.a. Mr P, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the aforementioned banks due to their association with the unauthorized use of his name for opening accounts. He is determined to pursue legal action against these institutions and hold them accountable for their actions.

I know the reason for opening an account with your name is for fraud.
But when you import someone from Niger Republic without identity to register for NIN with Peter Okoye Psquare.That person can equally open a bank account with the same details and banks won't have the right to question him/her.

So You didn't read the part where he said the accounts were being used to scam people? It was very important to put it out on social media so that people will know he isn't the one behind those accounts and beware of falling victims to such scams.
