If you want to sue the banks then sue…

Not everything is social media noise!
Any right thinking person should be happy this was shared widely. Nigerians expect banks to do their part in the fight against scam by doing due diligence with respect to KYC and BVN/NIN verification.

The only people who will take offense at this are the scammers themselves

Nah bro... This is the sort of thing that should trend on social media.

We should always publicly call out these sectors that are compromised by graft.

You are right…

Bringing it to SM isn’t bad. But they should actually act on the legal part.

They are fond of making noise on the media and blowing hot while taking no legal steps about these issues.

It isn’t today he has been making statements like this about his name used to scam people.

Without taking any steps against it/banks!

Yep... Without the help of Bank staff, internet fraudsters and politicians won't thrive at all.

Nigerian banks are extremely compromised and corrupt... They are a huge pointer to the rot in this nation and society.

Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has taken a strong stance against several Nigerian commercial banks, including Access Bank, Guarantee Trust Bank, and Polaris Bank. This comes after it was brought to his attention that an individual had utilized his name to establish accounts with these banks.

Expressing deep concern, Mr P has raised apprehensions regarding the potential misuse of these accounts by the account holder to deceive unsuspecting individuals who might erroneously believe they are associated with the well-known ‘Mr P’. Given the widespread recognition of his brand, Mr P finds it perplexing that esteemed institutions like banks would allow accounts to be created with a name that holds significant global recognition.

One point of contention for Mr P is that opening an account with any bank in Nigeria necessitates the provision of biometric data and a national identification number. He has posed a valid question regarding how the individual in question was able to establish these accounts without complying with these essential prerequisites.

Taking matters into his own hands, Mr P has engaged his legal team to address this issue. He has firmly stated his intention to take the banks involved to court for their role in allowing these accounts to be created under his name.

His statement reads;

In essence, Peter Okoye, a.k.a. Mr P, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the aforementioned banks due to their association with the unauthorized use of his name for opening accounts. He is determined to pursue legal action against these institutions and hold them accountable for their actions.

i think he has made a mistake, i just hope they don't delete those accounts before he proceeds with his legal action, the reason why many of these serious laxities don't go to court is that before you know it , someone from the bank will visit him, take along cameramen and tender an apology , finish.
he should sue those banks for 10 billion naira each , let them know that they cant just be taking people for granted

Nigerian banks are the biggest enablers of fraud. The way they the way they give them conducive platforms to defraud and get away with fraud is shocking to say the least!

What's the point of mandating people to get BVN when you know you will end up allowing fraudsters to open "wallet" accounts without any form of identification? ALL commercial banks are guilty of this not only those ones called out.

These accounts are mostly opened through the so called "virtual accounts". Fintech companies like Opay and palm pay are culprits here, no due diligence done. Some of these virtual banks accounts are linked to the major banks. The authorities don't give a damn about the frauds being perpetuated by the holders of these accounts

So You didn't read the part where he said the accounts were being used to scam people? It was very important to put it out on social media so that people will know he isn't the one behind those accounts and beware of falling victims to such scams.
Some people deserve to be ignored and the person you replied is one of them.
He is literate but chose to be a witty silly person.
