That's just the measure of inflation in Nigeria.

Why shouldn't they gain when every goods and services are adding money like water.

The writer wrote sad news probably because it's an indication of the poor getting ripped apart for the benefit of the very few riches. So far our democracy can best be defined as government of the rich by the powerful and for the rich

Those asking the hate and bad belle inspired question of how does it affect common man.

1.Ask your friends that invested in stocks
2.It means the country economy is growing and with time it will tickle down to everyone.
Sometimes you guys just hide behind keypad to type what I don't know

Do you have shares? If yes do you understand how it works?

For u to have a sizeable return from shares means u must have invested in millions to buy millions of these shares not d 2k unit u are bragging about which may not even pay u Upto 5k when dey are sharing dividend.

Try invest in shares den come back n make dis comment.

Do u know how many people invested in shares back in d early 2000s?

Small 2k unit when u get people no go hear word dat na if u even get sef.

D only way u gain in shares is when u buy n sell not waiting for 1 year to b paid 5k or less.

Nice one.

Good question

Citizens are the investors

Banks invest your money in stocks buying and selling shares to make you profit which is paid as intrest on deposit

Pension fund managers holding your parents pension invest mostly in the stock market and pay your parents pension and Gratituty from the proceeds

With all due respect sir, you too do not sound like someone who invests and trade in shares.
If you do, you will not say it is until you invest millions before you can have sizeable return.

DANGOTE sugar was N29.90 on 1st of August. Same is N60.50 on 1st September.
TRANSCORP was N3.50 on 1st August. Same is N6. 67 on 1st September.

An investment of just any amount would have given you 100 percent within the same period. Not minding whether you invested millions of not. The question now is, comparatively, can you tell us which business in Nigeria will give the same return?

I have discovered that most people that claim to know too much on Nairaland actually know too little. And with the too little they know, they arrogate so much knowledge and wisdom to themselves and when they are challenged, the resort to insults immediately.

Someone who claims to know much about shares and invests in it will not argue much on Nairaland.

Nonsense!!!

Why not compare that with growth of other country's stocks.

All these effort being made to put us in illusion and vain hope could've been better utilized to provide jobs and attract foreign investment.

Yesterday's news has it that Nigeria is now the worst growing country in the whole world

Did u read what I said at all, can you tell me the dividend like how much was paid to shareholders at the end of the year?

The amount you mentioned is what you buy or sell and each day trading the amount varies, like u posted it can b 200 today n tomorrow it will make loss.

so because it is sold at 3 naira means if u buy shares worth 500k (will only give u 166 units) of which if dividend is 50lobo or 2 naira per share u multiply by ur 166 unit now tell me what will accrue to u as earnings on the 166 unit.

Shares confers on u part ownership of a business n best way to make money is when u trade with it like have a stock broker who will advice u when to sell n buy DAT way u make more money Dan waiting for dividend .

Next time read ur book cos wetyn u just post show say u no know d difference between share price n dividends (earning per share)
That it increase in value like from 3 naira to 6 naira simply means it value has increased but ur dividend is simple DAT 3 naira increase u can only gain it if u sell At 6 naira

it is good we discuss as youth so we know where to channel our energy n resources.

Some of your comments have shown I should not engage you.
What is the relationship between earning 100 percent in a month on an investment and waiting for dividend at the end of the year.? The word comparative appears in my last comment. Check it and check the meaning.
The fact that you're referring me to my " book" before I can comment on shares is enough for me.
I was hoping you will disappoint me with a knowledgeable comment but all the same, it is okay.
Thank you for your time.

This is positive meant to bring Foreign Investment. All the Negativity on the social media coming out of Nigeria is enough to drive investors away.

If you want to grow and brings people close to you as much as you fix your sides you must equally look good on the outside.

I should he d one not engaging u cos u sound weak, how does trading of shares impact on the life of d common man?

If u talk about shares it is either u are talking about trading or u just keeping it n either way if you don't have volume u still won't get anything out of it.

For u to have something substantial DAT will impact on ur life u need d volume which translate to u investing millions.

Like I asked u before 500k worth of shares will give u about 166k @3 per share if u trqde u get a good amount if u use hard currency n u do d conbertion back u no gain shishi Do d math.

If u no know just shut up guy u invest 500k in shares if u trade it u get more which is buying n selling .

If a foriegner brings 1k dollars DAT is like 1m now convert d money to dollars after selling how much b d gain?

You have secondary n primary market in shares go read am n come back to face me

No come my front come dey talk rubbish when u no know wetyn b shares

U sure don't know anything about shares like u no even get 1 unit sef, cos if u have csc account u go know say d more volume u have d more money u make.

If u invest 500k n u sell when d price is high u make more money Dan when u wait for dividend, there are what u call speculative buying which is linked to d social, politcial n economic. Value of d country

It might be a record in Naira terms but it's not in Dollar terms.

In 2008, the exchange rate was around 120 to a $1. It's now 900 to a dollar.
