The Presidential Election Petitions Court has held that the Labour Pary (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, failed to specify how they scored the majority of lawful votes in the February 25 presidential election.

In the lead judgment read by Justice Abba Bello Mohammed, said the political party made generic allegations of irregularities, suppression of votes and corrupt practices to rob them of their votes, especially in Rivers, Benue, Lagos, Taraba, Imo and Osun states but failed to specify the polling units affected.

Justice Mohammed further held that LP also failed to prove the allegations of overvoting against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their actual reduced votes.

There was a lawyer who stood up and was making a point, who is he and what point was he making

He was asking the judges to give a final judgment and let them know if they are dismissing Obis case cheesy.

The judges now asked him if he's the one who will teach them their jobs

The way the man was suddenly humble and gentle, I was wondering, whats the worst thing the judge could have done to him if he wasn't so humble? cheesy

"hold your leaders accountable".

These are nigerians up there celebrating injustice because of politics.
These people here all know the elections were rigged but of course, they support the evil because of politics and tribalism.
How? Is there any fact to back up your claim?
Obi floor the poll where he is loved but it is a criminal offence for Tinubu to win where he is loved too.
Obi won in the south-east up to 90% of the total votes cast, It was a perfect election but where Tinubu won that is a paltry 25% to 35% of the total votes cast, (but made the 25% required by the electoral act) it will be tagged "rigged"

Labor Party agents signed the Original result sheets and have them.

Why can't Obi submit them?

In all of these, I want to know why Obi allowed those lawyers to handle his case like baby lawyers. I know they must have hinted him about their plans, before embarrassing themselves.

Obi may not even be as educated and brilliant as some people portrayed him. The holes were too many to be allowed to cross.
Too loose and stupid.

Basically, they could have asked for our advice on this thread before proceeding.

I think that they are playing to the gallery: Fighting for fighting .

Someone even said that it looks like Tinubu took Dayo/Soludo's advice seriously that he also hired lawyers for Obi.

Even Obi was ashamed now. He couldn't even make an appearance.

Everything the judges are saying has been discussed and concluded on this thread by sane minds. There was no dissenting judge. Not even one irrespective of the threats on their families

The 25% argument is dead on arrival. Of all the arguments that one is the easiest to toss in the bin.
Strictly speculative, now that the FCT is seen strictly as one of the states, what do you think should happen in a scenario where a candidate gets majority votes and wins exactly 24 states?
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 5:49pm On Sep 06, 2023
Plus the power of incumbency makes certain things near impossible.

You mean majority of votes and 25% in 24 states?

Well we will have a situation similar to what happened in 1979 with twelve two-thirds cos 24 states is not up to two-thirds of the 37 constituencies.

Luckily the current constitution is fairly clear about what should happen this time. There will be a run-off between the candidate who won the most votes and the candidate who won the most states. You can however trust desperate candidates and hungry lawyers to confuse the populace if it should ever happen.

Oh, that's true, but what if the candidate that won the most votes also won the most states, but failed to get 25% in more than 24 states?

It looks near impossible sha, but mathematically, it is...what happens in that sort of scenario?

When allegations of falsification are made, it must be proved beyond reasonable doubt

The petitioners need to provide two sets of results one genuine and the other false.

The petitioner indicated at the pre-hearing session it will call 50 witnesses but ended up calling only 13 witnesses

Out of the 13 witnesses, only 3 witness statements is in line with the petition.

These things ought not to be an issue if INEC did their job my making original result sheets available to petitioners, and made uploading of results to IREV possible on election day.

Plans to rig the elections were made before the elections even, and was made easier with APC being the incumbent party.
