Shaytun:
It’s obvious that the petitioners were just fixated on the belief that they won the election without any cogent and credible evidence, and they did not even bother to place any such credible evidence before this court, were they expecting the court to go and get evidence on the street or from the market or to be persuaded or intimidated by threats on Social Media, that is not the way of the courts” - Justice Mistura Bolaji-Yusuf

Too loose and stupid.

Basically, they could have asked for our advice on this thread before proceeding.

I think that they are playing to the gallery: Fighting for fighting .

Someone even said that it looks like Tinubu took Dayo/Soludo's advice seriously that he also hired lawyers for Obi.

PEPT has awarded cost for filing frivolous election suit:

APM: N 13, 675, 890. 00

LP: N 47, 910, 431. 87

PDP: N 23, 391,001. 45

Ordered to be paid within 48 hours after the judgement into the consolidated account of the Court of Appeal lodged at the CBN.
Good.

How I wish the lawyers are also fined separately. Disgusting.

Justice Moses Ugo

If Atiku can win Katsina, the home of the immediate past President who belongs to the APC and INEC declared it and also declared that Labour Party won FCT, then shut down its IREV for purpose of manipulation, then it must be a very abysmal manipulator or even an imbecilic one.

Agent copies are not secondary evidence?

Why didn't the lawyers present it now? Are you aware that you can't present new evidence on appeals
If you think justice was served then I pity you because there will be no hope for any of us as long as election petitions are concerned.

I asked a simple question, tell me what Atiku or Obi could have done to prove they won.

For your information, Agent copies are secondary evidences. Primary evidence are INEC CTCs.

The trick the justices used was to ask Obi to calculate his results before petition. How can he do so...
1. INEC refused to release BVAS for inspection.
2. INEC cleaned the BVAS and asked them to use IREV.
3. INEC did not release the IREV copies until petitions were filed.
4. The IREV copies were unreadable

So in essence, the justices blamed Obi for what INEC did.

Apart from this, in order to ensure that the LP petition does not rope them, they knocked off witness statements of 10 of the 13 witnesses called including those on subpoena.

Jungle justice.

pain me say I miss the sweetest part of the proceeding. I don sleep.

All the threats and the alleyesonthejudiciary hashtags may have even made things worse. Now the judges have asked them to do their worst.

They judges have shown that they are fearless and will not be intimidated.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Itsrm(m):
One thing I have learnt from this proceeding is that, once INEC declares you winner of a presidential election, it is almost impossible to overturn it in court. I used to think that the presidents use power of incumbency to influence judgments in their favour.

Now I know that the amount of evidence you need to prove you won the election within the time frame you have is almost impossible to gather.

The judges mentioned that INEC will be assumed to have abided by the electoral law and the constitution and it's left for you to prove they didn't. You also have to further prove that the result was significantly affected by INEC not following the said provisions of the Law.

The only way I see this happening is if the margin of victory is really small that the petitioner only needs to comb one or two states to prove irregularity.

This is best achieved if the opposition can join forces together in 2027. If they fly solo again, they will lose on election day and also in court.

There was nothing the petitioners would have done or brought to make the verdict go in their favour.

This is Nigeria first. You gotto have that in mind first.

I wonder how some of you were so optimistic about this whole tribunal issue. That's a futile struggle if you know the forces you will be fighting..abi the judges are from Europe?

They even condemned the EU report...lol...and were acting like they are the real Inec and APC lawyers. Pouring emotions everywhere. Judges for that matter!!!
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 7:30am On Sep 07, 2023
Now that the tribunal has affirmed Tinubu as duly elected president( irrespective of whatever individual reservations we have about the outcome of the elections ) and the clear handwriting on the wall that the Supreme Court will do same , for the sake of our democracy I hope the following will happen :

1. That members of PDP, LP (bar Apapa Faction who will most likely collapse structure for APC ) and smaller political parties should come together to form a mega party.

2. The newly formed mega party should assume the role of the main opposition party and should offer constructive criticism of the actions of the government/ruling party going forward ( as it is expected in modern democracy )

3. The ruling APC government on the other hand should not stifle the opposition, make attempt to obliterate the Opposition party neither should they see genuine criticism as “wailing “ like the Buhari government did which landed us in this economic cesspit we find ourselves as a nation today.

4. The ruling APC government should not continue the alienating culture of seeing things from the lens of “them vs Us “ going forward , so the history of what happened in the first republic will not repeat itself (which will be fatal in this present day )

We saw this coming a mile away. I still blame Obi who decided to reign in his supporters who wanted to protest the rigging while it was hot.
Donjazet2:
This is why I have been soo angry with Obi. He handled this movement very poorly.
Very meek even in the face of aggression. And that meekness has ebbed at his following.

Our silence suddenly means we "accept" the evil that took place on election.

I was only interested in seeing the show of shame happening.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by donjazzet: 8:04am On Sep 07, 2023
This was what I said obi should have done and people said I was wrong. That obi was right in going to court even though we already knew that that was a waste of time.

Donjazet2:
2 things, tell my supporters to immediately encamp all INEC offices during the period of coalition and ensure that the numbers are not changed. Publicly distribute the addresses of all the coalition centers and tell your supporters to rally at the premises and ensure that there is no form of physical violence whatsoever. Peaceful protest is a legally enshrined right to all nigerians.

Or 2, close my damn mouth, rather than outrightly telling them to be calm, I close my mouth and let them do whatever they do, whether violent or not, so far as I didn't in any shape or form call for violence from anyone. But outrightly calling for calm is automatically disclaiming anyone who goes out and protest and actively discourages any protest. Peaceful or otherwise.

Those were the best 2 options. 1: call your supporters to move to coalition centers where the rigging takes place, make sure you emphasize nonviolence or 2: keep shut but don't actively discourage any action by telling them to remain calm.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by donjazzet: 8:05am On Sep 07, 2023
Some of you are outrightly evil. I saw this handwriting on the wall since, that going to court was useless. I was ranting at Obi for telling his supporters to be calm when many wanted to hit the streets in light of the daylight robbery that was taking place then.

Donjazet2:
Lord knows I'm fvcking furious with Obi right now.

The man is a fucking_coward. A fucking_pussy.
We should have adopted a rougher politician. Your supporters are being beaten left, right, center all across the country and you can't even take any sensible action.
You are even restraining your supporters from going out there and reclaiming your own stolen mandate. Their own votes.
Making the exact same mistake Jonathan made.
Mtchew.
Hindsight has proven me right.. the only right thing for obidients to have done was massively protest the rigging taking place.

Donjazet2:
By that time, that passion and enthusiasm people had for all these would have drained.

This would have been best when the emotions of that injustice was raw!!
Wike should have been given the Mussolini treatment right after that election day.
Storm the rivers government house and hang him publicly for commiting the gravest offense against those whose interests he's supposed to represent.
These politicians keep taking us for granted because we have chosen to cower in silence.

Our only options before us now is flee or remain and bear the brunt of the chaotic country.

Fvcking whatever! However it went, peaceful, violent. So far as this wicked people knew that it was human beings they were dealing with not robots.

We all knew the nigerian judiciary was useless. We all knew nothing good will come out of it, my anger still remains with Obi who called for calm. He's the reason I don't even post anything political here again. He sold us out.

The public should have gone out and protested this robbery while it was hot.
