Most of the people in government now claiming government cannot afford to continue to subsidize education also enjoyed subsidized tertiary education. Just look at that girl in the video , I don’t even what her parents will sell for them to be able to afford 200k plus per session from 25k she was paying before

Lets analyze the privilege you claimed I enjoyed

I matriculated during the days of Abacha when I paid about 2k school fees as a fresher (accommodation 590, tuition -N1590)
Minimum wage was N250

That was the amount paid in Ife which was way cheaper than UI or UNILAG. I think UI increased their fees to between 3k and 5K which led to a riot when Arisekolas car was burnt

Now adjust for inflation and tell me what should Ife school fees amount to now

I hope you will come up with the Maths and explain how you arrived at the numbers

My own Math says I paid 8 times the minimum wage

Now what is 8 times the minimum wage currently before we factor inflation

At every polling unit, every party agent was given a copy of the result for that unit. A copy is also given to the police attached to the polling unit which means it's not only INEC that has the result from the polling unit, all the party agents are meant to have their own result signed by all the party agent and INEC polling officer from the polling unit in their possession including the police. Nothing is shrouded in secrecy.

If you are claiming that what INEC released is rigged or not correct, you have to produce the one with you that's duly signed at the polling unit to show that's what you score. That's how you prove something at the election tribunal. Except you want to prove overvoting or stuffing of the ballot boxes (which the BVAS has eliminated anyways), you really do not need INEC own copies for anything as long as the result copies with you are duly signed at the polling units.

The moment you challenge an election result, inec is automatically the defendant in the case, they have the right under law to defend the result they put out.

We may be very young then , but we get elderly ones in the family who schooled that time and the family could afford to pay the fees irrespective of whatever the minimum wage was.

Trying to smuggle minimum wage and inflation rate into the discussion is just trying to manipulate stats just to make a point .

The koko here is; whatever the inflation rate is today our leaders who enjoyed subsidized education are fully aware of it yet they do not cut frivolous spendings on luxurious items in a time of austerity ; yet they want they common man to pay through their nose for what they themselves enjoyed at a subsidized rate.

at a subsidized rate o. Today he’s the number 3 man in a government that is saying it cannot continue to subsidize tertiary education yet he’s to use 1 billion naira to buy cars alone

As there were people who could afford it then, we also had people who couldnt afford it then. Just like now

I don't know about our leaders, I know about myself and if I paid 8 times the Federal minimum wage

8 times minimum wage for school fees is still subsidized otherwise find out what Covenant pays to get an idea of non subsidized school fees in Nigeria

Saying I speak from a privileged position to attend school when I did is an appeal to emotion and not based in facts or numbers.

Fact and numbers say a minimum wage worker in the time I matriculated will use his 8months salary combined to pay his kids school fees at that time, Now extrapolate and see what it will cost now. That is 240K. which is still subsidized

many of my peers at the same time had to drop out because they could not afford it. Just like people have been dropping out from time due to school fees

That is not subsidy fully removed, when subsidy is fully removed it will cost the same price as private school of similar standards

Almost everyone knows minimum wage has never been the basis for determining whether there's economic prosperity or not in Nigeria

Minimum wage in Nigeria has always been a product of how the labour leaders can drag government and how benevolent the government wants to be. It's not like minimum wage determines anything in this country. I won't be drawn into a pointless argument of multiplying minimum wage by any multiplier and measuring school fees with it.

As for Akpabio school fees, those who attended school during his time should know. I don't .

The crux of the matter is; those wanting to do away with subsidy on education have enjoyed it themselves, they do not wish to cut government's frivolous spendings but think the common man should understand. That's insensitivity if u ask me
