A state government has no business operating bus parks.

Some of their buses are shit too. There was one boarded to Ilorin about a month ago, an hummer bus. Initially, we dint know its condition not until we were on the way. The bus could not kick on its own except by pushing, not speeding well, dim light, bad tyres and the driver self...
It was an uninteresting journey that day.

Look, I GREW UP PASSING THROUGH OSHODI DAILY ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL.

Oshodi was a hellhole of fast commerce, market women selling everywhere.

Oshodi is the first place I've seen where market women would place their stalls in the middle of the road, with cars passing. When the Molue reaches the point they are, the driver would jump out screaming at the women to remove their stalls from the road.

You would think the women would be remorseful and be saying sorry for blocking the road. For where? They will be abusing the driver back as he's driving off. Raining curses on him! That's Oshodi for you!

Plus chronic overcrowding, rushing for Molue, desperation, illiteracy, semi-literacy, touts, thugs, Alayes, pickpockets, drug dealers, poverty, and open defecation.

Oshodi was where ARMED ROBBERS used to go and hide after committing atrocities in more civilized parts of Lagos.

A sprinkling of BROTHELS in the area gladly served as hideouts.

I personally frequented some of those brothels in my secondary school days in the 80s.

I often used my pocket money to go and nyash ashewo.

Short time, 10 Naira.

Oshodi was the quintessential Lagos hellhole.

All those people were not moved out of OSHODI after they commissioned the terminal.

They are still there.

So how the hell do you expect the terminal to look?

The minute I heard they were building that terminal at OSHODI, I knew it would get to this.

I'm even surprised they haven't smashed in all those ajebota glass walls and trimmings in the terminal.

The place even still looks clean somehow, considering the fact that it is in Oshodi.

Truth is it will be a hell of a task keeping that terminal looking like somewhere in Paris or Brussels or London, with the kind of characters that populate OSHODI.

If that facility was located somewhere in Ikeja or Surulere or Island or Lekki, the place will be looking very clean and sharp even with minimal maintenance.

Simply because of the calibre of people in those areas.

The long-term solution for this sort of thing is just to improve the living standards of the masses, plus education.

Yoruba people are well known for their dirty culture.

The decay no be here. Even when it wasn’t completed to standard at commissioning, the decay is getting worse. They defecate & urinate on the streets around the area, some areas are not utilized hence these areas have become mechanic workshops. A lot of things I can’t even type. Nigeria and poor maintenance culture. Chai

If I may add it’s under utilized too. Amala, ewedu, melon, ofada rice with sauce etc are sold on the same stinking streets around the terminal. Ticketing booths have turn to something else in some sections of the terminal.

This means that the billions used in building the terminal should have been used in human capital development in that area?

Oshodi bus station should be fully privatized, that is the only way things can work. The touting in that complex is too much.
There are a lot of empty unoccupied spaces in that complex.
Let the private firm rent those spaces out to logistics companies, visa agency, phone dealers, bars, motel etc.
NURTW members should be expelled totally from that complex.
More mobile police should be stationed both within and out the complex perimeters to avoid burning of the complex Incase of thugs clashes, rioting and protesting.
Infact oshodi oke and environs should be declare a RED zone and it should be heavily militarized.

That is Nigeria for you. We don't go all the way as the white people do. We get complacent with everything. My question , is there a manager for that facility? It's part of his/her job to ensure the cleanliness of that place.

•Governor Sanwo-Olu should do the Followings:
- go to the Oshodi Terminal Personally and get a first hand information.
-even the Road that most of the BRT Vehicles are using - just to turn under the Terminal - for Ikorodu - BRT Buses,is like hell on earth - that particular Road is terribly bad and have been abandoned for over 3- yrs now,with a Public School by its side and those Buses have been going on Stressed -due to the bad Road,not to Talk of Toilets and other Facilities that Lagosians ought to be proud of!
- go to TBS,in using the Toilet,you pay N100.but you will see those maintenance Workers their,so why can't Oshodi be properly maintained, despite the huge People passing the place every day?
The Lagos State Public -Infrastructures -Workers, are just not there,as there is no Maintenance Culture in Nigeria and nobody is held liable!
•Oshodi should have nothing less than at least about 10- Public Toilets, that should be well maintained and if Lagos govt can't do it, should be Contracted to the Privately owned Citizens in building and maintaining them! This will include- constant running water , including having Bore hole, electric generator and clean Environments- on weekly, Monthly and yearly basis!
• Lagos State Assembly would not see that but just stay in their own - Office, issuing Political Statements-yet without knowing what the whole Local Govt of the State are facing!
