Why is no media platform reporting about the problems faced by Nigerians regarding NIN registration recently? Despite the hypes by the Telcos that customers should just walk in and get registered, it was a different story at Airtel and MTN outlets both at Ogba, Lagos which I visited yesterday thinking I might be able to find solution to the NIN problem. Both outlets have yet to attend to all the customers that picked numbers since the first day. I actually completed my registration at a NIMC office about three weeks ago and proceeded to NIS passport office for data capturing since the NIN is a key requirement. Following NIS data capture, I went back after the 2 weeks promised me that the passport will be ready only to be told that the NIS platform has not been fetching data from NIMC servers successfully. They told me a lot of people are affected, especially those that did NIMC enrolment recently. No official has given me a firm assurance, but I need the the passport urgently. |
