Poor education is the bane of many Nigerians. Using corruption to enrich a few men doesn't men anything in the long run. I will rather live in a country which a large middle class and few extremely wealthy individuals than in a country with a couple of wealthy individuals, no middle class and over 90% in multi-dimensional poverty. Dangote and BUA are from NW yet the region is the poorest in Nigeria. They can't even invest there because of potentially low patronage, due to lack of considerable middle class. A country with large middle class will have quality of life than a country with extreme poor majority and a couple of rich men. In my village, there are banks, hotels, big supermarkets, big pharmacies and good schools, good hospitals etc. All within the community or neighborhood. However, you can go to some states in the North and parts of SW and you will see entire local governments lacking all these! Firstly, because they don't have enough middle class to establish them and also make them viable through patronage. Thus, at the end, the people live very low quality of lives. Typical example of where life is nasty, brutish and short. That's also why terrorism can never be defeated in such economic wastelands because they have endless pool of uneducated, hungry and desperate youths to recruit. Pick any random village or city in say Anambra, Imo or Abia then compare them with their counterparts from Oyo, Osun or Ondo, or Kano, Sokoto or Katsina. Villages in these places unlike those in the East are like dead zones. Let's stop fooling ourselves in this country and reason objectively, there are certainly more wealthy men in India, Mexico and Russia than say Sweden, Norway and Canada but can you compare the quality of life or level of development in those category of countries? |

@proeast Actually, your analysis is wrong on comparison of state from different region just by housing and infrastructural development only. I want to talk about this concept of Igbo's thinking in this particular pattern which rely heavily on the path of building big houses, mansions and industries leads to development of one particular region. In micro and macro economics, the best development of a society is measured base on the continuous usage of particular valued product or asset generated continuously not on stagnation of the same product. Let me expantiate further on my point above, it is valueless to have 100 million naira in your bank account for 5 years without using it, build 100 million mansion without living in it, building tall skyscraper, medical facilities and others which are not directly engaging the daily life activities of the environment such infrastructure are built on. Stagnation is very common in Igbo region based on this simple fact. Most Igbos in south east Asia, North America, Europe and Lagos usually makes particular mistake of building big things and expensive stuff just to show off or tie down the money they've made overseas without actually integrating the money into South east Economy, if Igbos could stop running on only capitalism mindset where money must be made at all cost, while neglecting the concept of social-capitalism to integrate all the money made into the general life and environment the money is been fixed on, I can tell you boldly that Igbos will continue to troop out enmass out of their region in 100 years to come, no matter how much house they build if they insist on not engaging the South east zone directly. Making money is not enough to champion a region success, the money made must be integrated into that region to have maximum effect on the economy of that said region. 80% of all the expensive house in South east are either empty or occupied by the grandmas, in simple words give me insight on how this will help to actually improve the Economy of the south east region which will invariably stop you guys from traveling away from your region? P.S I understand that the average igbo man is not poor money wise, but in life your region define your success not your money anywhere else. Make South east great and engaging and see how much respect you will garner from all and sundry who have genuine reason to mock you people. Read this post with open mind before responding and I am a Yoruba man to the core, just a pity we and Igbos don't have the same political ideologies which I totally understand from the political perspective of each region |

I really pity Igbos, must you look down on others just to prove a point of how superior you are, i pray your hatred for the north and south west will not consume you guys. Bitterness is real |

gentiles:I think it will be better to enlighten them on who they are since they can't self-reflect and act accordingly. That's why they believe in extreme form of capitalism only which is "make money by all cost" |

Villages in these places unlike those in the East are like dead zones. I always laugh whenever I see you kids brag and beat chest on social media. You can't compare the SW and SE at all. They are not on the same level in any way. The poorest state in the South-West (Ekiti) is even doing better more than 4 out of the 5 states in SE. Even Anambra which is doing fairly well and that you call home of Billionaires is still way behind states like Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo & Ondo. The STATS are everywhere. A simple Google search should open your eyes.
