Very welcome development. India have piloted lots of economic models for Africa and Nigeria. One good example is that microfinance banking model, it started in India and then implemented in Nigeria and Africa. Culturally India has a major impact on Nigeria, we can also gain from small scale manufacturing in the area of textiles. And also agriculture in the area of spice farming and processing.

If you want to catch a big fish or a big catch of ordinary fishes you must have a BIG, STRONG NET.

The firms you seek overseas will be more interested in a cooperative, coordinated, secure and fertile environment. As a matter of fact the more your country has on its CV the less talk you will have to make. Because every statistic you provide speaks of the entire country, not just regions or so called enclaves of political conquest, but all Nigeria.

How far has the Ministry of Trade and industry gone towards integrating local industries and business concerns. Just one small but thoughtful example.

* Firm A Trading Company imports Farming Tractors and multiple units lie in showrooms. Firm B Agricultural Company seeks to expand or mechanize and requires agricultural machinery. There should be an instant alarm sounding in the Ministry of Trade when applications are made by Firm B to the CBN for foreign exchange. Because it is highly wasteful and economically corrosive for there to be dollarised assets lying fallow. This applies to most productive industry, equipment, raw materials, etc that costs the economy huge amounts lying fallow, 'waiting' in markets for consumers that are busy seeking same abroad.

I was watching a program in the States recently and was amazed as to how deep government there involves itself in the running of the business economy. They know practically everything about companies that operate there. They know what their assets are (it forms part of their taxation architecture).

They are abreast with inventories of materials, production, everything. They know precisely for instance how many vehicles are on the streets, how many are in showrooms, how many vehicles factories are making per time and with that they are able to precisely control the flow of resources in and out of their economy so waste is minimal.

There is no reason why for instance a local factory that requires orange juice concentrate cannot be led to source from local orange juice concentrate producers as a first consideration, or led along the path to orange processing plants or led further down the path to orange growers and even down to presently moribund or unprofitable farmsteads. That is a deep dive to explore the entire local economic potentials BEFORE applying for foreign inputs.

Hard work and critical thinking can generate more internal economic activity than we presently have. We can create more jobs by closely examining all the things we need but presently give out to foreign economies in a cavalier manner. We can save huge amounts of foreign exchange when we are prepared to squeeze every productive ounce out of the economy and only exchange or resort to imports when the inventory of foreign goods AND SERVICES is at an absolute zero.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry must begin to look inwards for resourcefulness as eagerly as it jets out to seek help.

Running to India under the guise of seeking for investors is a waste of time when bandits are in charge of local governments with high agricultural output in North central, North west and North East.

In the short term Nigeria need to solve the issue of insecurity so farmers can go back to farm. Foreign direct investment is not going to solve insecurity for us.

Tinubu got nothing to offer. It's so glaring. Waiting till after 4 years to assess his scorecard is rubbish. Nigeria is really stagnating while other countries are doing well for themselves.

You start when you have rule of law and strong public institutions. Secondly I don’t have any prayer to waste on Nigeria.

Visit Bangalore in India then you can have an idea of what a city should look like. This city took shape within the last 10years.

India moved from 11th biggest economy in 2013 to 5th biggest economy in 2023. And in the next 5years they’re projected to become the 3rd biggest economy over taking Japan and Germany. And ironically, within same period Nigeria produced more poor people than any other country in the world.

Last week APC chieftains Wale Edun and Fayemi confessed that the last time we experienced economic growth was in 2014. But you people have continued to support the same people to continue their mismanagement of the country but expect prayer to build the country. Lol
