Most notable European inventions started with an article written about it. So here goes my thoughts. Maybe someone is reading. Geography: The federation would be based on race. It would exclude non-black Africans. Countries like the Arabs of North Africa, the Indians of the Indian Ocean (Seashells, Mauritius and Madagascar) South Africa and Lesotho (because they have a large white population) would not be included. This means the Federation would be made up 44 states mostly found in Sub Saharan Africa. Government and Politics: The Federation can work like the U.S.A. It would have a President and vice, a Senate made up of 88 senators (2 from each state) and a house of representatives made up of to 500 members. A supreme court and lower federal courts. There would be one military commanded by the president, but states can have a national guard that would be each state's internal security militia. The capital could be Abuja at the start, while a befitting capital would gradually be built somewhere along the coasts on a donated land (Maybe in Gabon). Elections to the Presidency would be handled by each state's electoral commission. That means there would not be a federal electoral commission. The candidate with the highest votes becomes president and gets a 4-year term, renewable once with his running mate as vice. Powers and Responsibilities of states and FG: The Federal Government of Africa will have responsibility for the exclusive list. This list will contain the following: international and inter-state trade; foreign affairs; defence; immigration; taxation; banking; insurance; marriage and divorce; currency and weights and measures; post and telecommunications. States will have power over other residual items, while both states and FG have powers over concurrent items such as education, health, environment, policing, prisons, Traffic and aviation etc. Nigeria and other federal states in the union can then devolve residual and concurrent powers to the states within their states. Leaders of state governments currently called presidents would be changed to governors while those called prime ministers would become premiers. Nigerian governors could be called county managers. Currency The country will use a single currency called Afro that would be initially pegged to the dollar. Countries can gradually adopt it. Passport: The country will have one passport Advantages 1. The country would be the very largest country in the world by size at 21.13 million km² (larger than Russia) 2. The country would have the 3rd largest population in the world at 1.005 billion people (larger than U.S) 3. The country would have the 6th largest military by personnel in the world. 4. At 1.3 trillion dollars, the country would be the largest economy in Africa by far. The second would be South Africa at 400 billion. 5. The country would dominate Africa in everything and be the sole super power in the African Union. 6. With its immense soft powers, it could make powerful international friends and can negotiate to become a permanent member of UN security council. 7. We would all benefit by having one embassy abroad in all countries of the world. 8. Free movement within the country can open new opportunities for millions, thus creating more wealth and deepening trade. Note. The flag is the black power flag plus stars of each country. Has nothing to do with Biafra. Also the map is incorrect. Just for illustration.

At least for now, they are working in unison more than before and they have been outspoken about their needs and freedom from the oppressors |

helinues:Not really, i dont think so. It was before, in the 1950s and 60s that Pan Africanism reigned. There was even blocs (The Casablanca and Monrovia blocs) who actually campaigned for or against a Federated Africa. Also when Ghadaffi was alive, he campaigned for it. These days nobody talks about it. African Union cannot even solve crisis in Congo. |

Insecurity plaguing most of the African states will prevent this from happening in 50 years. Greed, as self-centeredness, love for power will play a major role in preventing this from happening. |

Africa needs to be structured along ethnic lines as it were before the coming of the colonizers. Maps needs to be redrawn and with this act, the colonizers will lose legitimacy of there colonies. Then we begin the real Pan African discussion. Simple |

Chibuzoc:too much water under the bridge. Apart from Nigeria, Congo and Ethiopia, ethnicity is not a major factor in most other African countries. Trying to divide along ethnic lines will be impossible. I support Biafra though because that agitation is in the league of Eritrea, South Sudan and Western Sahara. It's a unique agitation caused by existential crisis of a major African ethnic group
