Presidential Panel Plans 83% Cut In Taxes, Levies by Omooba77(op): 11:50am On Sep 12, 2023
The Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, has said Nigeria has over 60 different forms of taxes and levies.

Many of the taxes, he added, made life unbearable for the poor in society.

Oyedele spoke, while featuring as a guest on the Channels Television programme ‘Sunrise Daily’, monitored by our correspondent on Monday.

He said his committee was working to reduce taxes and levies to less than 10, which would be a decrease of 83.33 per cent.

Inside Kwara Community, Ijara-Isin, Where Residents Have Own 'Currency'
According to him, “Up together today, we have over 60 of those different taxes and levies. We think we should have less than 10 single digits. We think by having less than 10 that the magic is that people will actually pay less, and government will collect more because where you get the efficiency from is the collection that sometimes does not go to the government today.

“The Market Traders Association told us that you need seven tickets every day just to sell pure water. Seven tickets for what? That is from the Local Government, but it is not in the constitution.”

He noted that most of these taxes were coming from the local governments, while the money they got most of the time was not remitted to government coffers.

According to him, some local governments were taking advantage of the constitution levy payments such as wheelbarrow tax, and pure water tax on the poor in society, who were struggling to make ends meet.

Oyedele also said Nigerians did not trust the government, which was one of the reasons for not paying taxes.

He said Nigerians should focus on holding the government accountable and transparent.

The atrocity, desecration, abomination and evil carried out in the land by these group of criminal entities cannot be rectified by tax cut.

Many do not yet understand the evil and consequences of the desecration of the land of Nigeria.
Nothing good can come out from this evil

There are consequences for these desecration. It is brutal and fatal.
Many have acquired generational curse for this abominable evil.

From the pept judges, to tinubu, his gang, the supporters of this evil act and every person involved in this abominable act .
Watch out for them , their families, and generations.

When you begin to see some crazy things happen to people, you trace them before you begin to blame God.

I created a post yesterday of Buhar/Tinubu and wanted forum members to decide who is better in governance. Today FFK echoed my sentiments.

I am not an APC support and believe the APC might not have won the elections because of Buhari's ouring, but Tinubu has been impressive. By this time Buhari had gone on several medical trips, spending over a month abroad on medical tourism.

Never cost of government( their emoluments, estacodes, overhead costs etc ), but just desperately trying to deceive the masses they have and are still exploiting with so called humanist policies. Wicked souls.

The most controversial president in the world.

A man with no known background.

And a man with no known education certificate and no known parental background.

I want to know whats the purpose of Owo loading, Owo ticket, Owo Chairman 😂

Nigerians are just paying healthy able men free money to smoke, drink paraga, agbo and carry Olosho in the name of paying tax.

I load at the garage these folks are paying as high as 1500-2000 on every trip, garage is nothing to write home, no simple thing as toilet.... Then I ask myself, where is all these money going to?

83% tax cut for the looting rich who have always taken delight in evading taxes in the first place.

Imagine the tax on a meager $30 minimum wage.

You want to "Taxify" Nigerians because you believe in your head that it's the way the developed world does it while forgetting that our case is peculiarly distinct and no world-class system can be successfully reproduced here to work as such.

All these una everyday trial and error plus automatic somersaults go continue until una face the reality that Nigeria isn't a country but a farm stead of the British Empire.

Cut taxes for who? The wheelbarrow pushers, labourers, keke riders, okada riders, taxi drivers, market women selling peppers, roadside mechanics, Akara sellers or children hawking bananas on the streets? Again, cut taxes for who? This means more money into the pockets of already wealthy crooks.

The fools jubilating over this rubbish on cutting taxes will still be suffering. Only wealthy Tifnubu's friends and business owners will benefit from cutting taxes. The ignorant, hopeless, poor, uneducated Tifnubu supporters will still be suffering.

Tifnubu should cut salaries and allowances of Senators, governors and thieving corrupt FG officials rather
