If the cost of production, packaging, logistics and marketing is born by the business, it safe to say that only the business has the right to decide the price. Moreover, enforcing price control will open another room for corruption.

Today I went for my annual eye check up, after hours of checking, the doctor said am good all I needs is just some antibiotics.

To cut the stories short, the 3 drugs that the doctor wrote and hide from me was said to cost 15,000.
After paying, I removed the paper that was glued to hide the names of the drugs and I checked the costs online, behold the total cost of the drugs in an online pharmacy store was less then 5,000.

I just laughed and said to myself, you have been scammed.

Of course they have to subsidise local production. It's a standard practice globally. Inputs like power should be subsidised to encourage local manufacturers. Reduction of import duties on machinery and raw materials and tax rebates should also be introduced. Now after doing all that to lower the cost of production, I believe they have every right to introduce a price ceiling for local consumables.

Export goods on the other will be priced at international market prices to encourage the production of export grade products which will earn more Forex for the country. Diversification don complete be that.
