As I gather my thoughts while being re-welcomed unto this platform 😊, I remember my experience about a fortnight at a high class hospital in Lagos.

I needed to see the doctor as I wasn’t feeling too good. While awaiting my test result, i remembered my wife is yet to pick her pap test result (she’s been busy and stuff), so I informed the nurse to gather the result alongside mine.

She was ‘kind’ enough to honor my request, and it was at that point it dawned on me! Why will the hospital give out patient’s personal details without seeking consent (verbal/written) from the data owner?

I sure collected the results but then took time to explain the risk and best practice to the personnel on duty. Think she got the message and I hope she will apply the lessons I explained in other business activities.

There is need for businesses to continuously sensitize staff on personal data protection basics. There is need for all companies to have DPO (Data Protection Officer), to further drive this process.

For your own sake never try it in any government hospital,agency or ministry here o
Forget social media staff in those places will make you regret it
