LMIA and STUDY route still remain the best option to covert vv to work permit, but advising ppl to pay for lmia or seek asylum, I will never advise anyone to try that. In my situation I’m diverting into tech. Instead of paying close to 20k for lmia, go to school n enroll for demanding skills in Canada like data analytics, IT, project management, UI/UX etc. If you can acquire if from home, that’s a good advantage.

There are some good IT training centers offering these courses. You can apply and start whilst you are planning relocating. In Life, learn to plan, don't just do things anyhow and in a rush. Plan. That is my message for anyone on relocation and be strategic about it.

January 12th- Biometrics
April 27th- "additional information required"- A completed IMM 5546 (Details of Military Service). They do this for anyone who has been in the military. we filled and submitted the documents immediately
June 21- "We are reviewing the additional information"
September 13- "Background check completed" on tracker! nothing new on the portal
September 18- BVL and PPR (same time).
Tracker has not been updated

Documents submitted
We did not submit any elaborate documents with his application. No bank statements or landed properties etc. The only thing from his end was his passport data page! nothing else.
Just a letter from me (his child), my birth certificate showing he is my father, my marriage certificate that he signed as a witness, proof of my status in canada, my bank statement- I did not include my husband's statement or his employment details! It was a very "light" application

This was similar to how I applied for my sister last year (I shared this here last year)- no bank statements from her etc.

The details of military service was not easy to do at all and there was very limited information about it on nairaland. They wanted details of every unit my father worked in through out his military career, including names of his commanding officer etc at each rank. We filled it to the best of our knowledge and submitted it to them.

For anyone who will be doing this in future, note that there are certain people who, according to ircc are deemed inadmissible to Canada.

You could be found inadmissible for a number of reasons, such as:

1. security reasons, including espionage, subversion (attempts to overthrow a government, etc.), violence or terrorism, membership in an organization involved in any of these
2. human or international rights violations, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, being a senior official in a government engaged in gross human rights violations or subject to international sanctions

I called VFS today for my rescheduling and they released my RICC number so that I can be able to schedule through the website again , I went to the website and there are no available dates at all … This is strange , have anyone been through this before ? Can I renew my international passport and use the 2 passport to travel i.e the one visa was affixed and the new one I'm about to get.

Can I get complete of my study permit at the port of entry if I present the one with visa and the new passport?

Instead of doing study permit extension inside Canada and getting new passport inside Canada
