Things are super tough here as well right now. The economy is tanking, there's fewer job listing, and cost of living is RIDICULOUS.

Be prepared to never stop studying if you want to make it in corporate. Be prepared to run multiple concurrent jobs if you're looking to do menial route.

I graduated from my MBA 3 weeks ago, and I'm already on another training course as we speak. This shit is NOT easy.

Abbey is such a trench name though. I was born in the trenches but e no mean say make I embrace that name.

My immediate older brother also has Raphael as one of his middle names. If you from the trenches or Yoruba and not middle class and above, you will know that name is the equivalent of Wasiu or Ramon for Yoruba Christians of a certain background.
All the Wasiu I know are all nuisance. grin

I actually know. My own frustration is majorly from the fact that it just seems as if I'm going round in circles or just stuck in a position. That feeling where you don't even know your purpose again.

I guess it's just a phase of being overwhelmed with situations. It's a wonder to me how I still function optimally at work.

Na why I dey look to just move and start afresh.

Finding ones purpose in life is one of the hardest things to achieve. And the truth is the vast majority of people will live and die without ever figuring out what they were put on this planet to do.

I recommend looking up the concept of Ikigai to see in simple terms what finding and achieving your purpose might entail.

Until you're able to find your purpose, if you ever do, I suggest that you focus of a series of short term and long term goals that you can set for yourself. The goals don't all have to be super specific either...although it helps.

That's the technique I use to get through life at the moment, because sometimes I feel like a leaf blown on the wind, going wherever fate takes me, without a sense of my own agency. I sometimes feel like my life is just one long exercise in duty and obligation - duty to be a good sibling, a good son, a good husband, a good father, a good employee, a good neighbour etc.

Defining myself in reference to what I mean to people has caused me great mental anguish in the past, because I recognise that I act as an umbrella to so many people with nobody doing the same for me.

These days I have accepted that there is a gap in my life associated with not knowing my purpose for existence, but I am also hopeful that my day of insight will come. Till then, I continue to set monthly and yearly goals for myself and focus on achieving them, which provides me a sense of purpose in the short term.

I wish you well my brother, but you must know yourself and you must learn to suffer. To be a MAN is not a day's job.

I'm truly sorry but I can't feel empathy for people who deliberately and willingly self sabotage their selves and fortunes despite several warnings and forebodings.

Am I really supposed to feel sorry for someone who has actively defended the wickedness of our leaders and vociferously attacked everyone who sought an obviously better path and reset to the countries political system?

Am I really supposed pretend that the last few months and years haven't happened where he doubled down and tripled down on support for the APC and still continues to this very day despite the fast paced backwardness the country has speeding at??

I'm sorry but I'm not pretentious. I wouldn't pretend to feel sorry for someone who is getting burnt because he stoked and enflamed the furnace and then walked into it despite soo much pleadings and warnings not to do so.

The APC is directly responsible for the gross economic mismanagement of this country for this past decade. A mismanagement that is costing lives and creating massive economic refugees on a daily basis, anyone who would see all these and still support them because of primordial sentiments or "our son" only has himself to blame and cannot seriously wish to see any sort of sympathy towards him. It's that simple and logical.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by donjazzet: 12:33pm On Sep 23, 2023
And this is why I always said "politics is our lives". It's not a game.

There are soo many countries that have been blessed with good leaders that transformed the fortunes of their country and with it, raised the quality of lives of their citizens.

Look at the path Rwanda is on because of an astute leader, look at Singapore, look at Indonesia, look at South Korea, look at the middle east with it's forward thinking leaders.

Good leadership determines the fate of a country and if you support bad and terrible leadership, not only will you be burned but you drag down others along with you.

Only someone foolish wouldn't see the direct correlation between a strong economy and good leadership.

Behind every prosperous nation that grew powerfully in the last 60 years was a strong and dedicated leadership. Something which was obviously lacking in our country and which we had the chance of instituting but was scuttled by folks like him. I was called names by folks like him for fighting for that reset because we knew that if things don't change at the Leadership top, we will continue backsliding and here we are and you really expect me to feel empathetic towards someone who has indeed supported the factors that has brought about his own misfortunes. That simply doesn't sound right. It doesn't.

But now you can't have empathy for people because of their political leanings
