DeadPresidents:A lot of Nigerians born in Nigeria speak English as their first and only language. Going to Japan is too far. |

DeadPresidents:No need for long talk. In any biography on Einstein, his native language, German, is stated clearly there. That's what you'll find on all reportable websites, books, including memoirs written by Einstein himself while alive. That's the fact and common knowledge. Quote a credible source or sources that say German isn't his native language, but Yiddish is. |

Some people go write a new history for Einstein on Nairaland this night. Lols. This forum sha, ![]() |

nihilistjnr:You get my point in totality. Your native language is the one spoken by people in your ethnic group. The Germans call it, "Deine Muttersprache". Einstein was an Ashkenazi Jew so Deutsch can’t be his native language anymore than Mesut Özil. Özil speaks German as his dominant language but his native language is Türkish |

So, if an unfriendly regime assumes power in Nigeria and starts treating atheists and agnostics with hostility, for instance, and someone like me emigrates to the US and renounces my Nigerian citizenship, does that mean Yoruba is no longer my native language? Even while in the US, I'd still be speaking my native language which is Yoruba. And that's exactly what the case was with Einstein; only that he was a Jew, at least nominally. All these funny posts. Person write him native language German clearly for him memoirs while alive. All books on his history also contain the same fact. Go to any reputable site on Einstein's history, you'll find the same fact there. But you want to write your own history of Einstein here on Nairaland. |

I agree with you. Saka‘s native language is English. |

A001:Einstein was an ethnic Jew - which one be nominal Jew? If you move you Yankee as per your example, are you a nominal Yoruba man? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001: 10:35pm On Sep 26, 2023 |
It's like someone saying the native language of Wole Soyinka was no longer Yoruba because he escaped from Nigeria during the Abacha regime. How does that make sense? If you say his native language isn't Yoruba because he emigrated from the country during the military government under Abacha, that's false history. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001: 10:40pm On Sep 26, 2023 |
Do a simple search on Einstein's native language on Google and check all the reputable sites, you'll see German written clearly there as his native language. That's the fact. It's not something you debate. But you can't find it in any credible source where Yiddish is stated as his native language. You can emigrate from a country and renounce the citizenship because of a hostile regime and still be speaking your native language abroad. Einstein did so, and it's widely known in the science world. This is not debatable. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by DeadPresidents: 10:43pm On Sep 26, 2023 |
Einstein‘s native language was Yiddish. Whether he could speak it or not is immaterial just as Gbadebo‘s native language is Yoruba even if he doesn’t speak it. It’s simple mathematics |

A001:Albert Einstein was an ethnic Jew. He was Jewish by blood. Both his parents were Jewish. He is of Middle Eastern origin. He just happened to be born in Germany. His Jewish ethnicity is what led him to literally be offered the Presidency of Israel - the literal country of the Jews.

DeadPresidents:Lols, but you can't cite any source that says so. You dey argue with someone that majors in Physics, but you've no sources to back your claim. I should just take your word for it for a course I studied in school for years, lols |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001: 10:54pm On Sep 26, 2023 |
nihilistjnr:You and your companion are funny. You're both grasping at straws. Na common Wikipedia excerpt I go take from you as a proof for a claim. Lols, you must be a joker. Check the meaning of the word, "native", in a standard dictionary and read my post again. I said German is the native language of Einstein, i.e. that's the language of his birthplace. That's the fact you'll see in all books and articles on Einstein's biography. And you also stated it in your own post. End of discussion.

A001:Then by this logical postulation, Saka’s native language is English. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001: 11:04pm On Sep 26, 2023 |
DeadPresidents:Na you dey call Saka all about. Saka's native languages are Yoruba and English. I already told you from the start that some people have more than one native language. While Einstein‘s native language was German, another native language of his was Yiddish as you said, but he wasn't fluent in it. So, that leaves us with German as his native language. And you'll find the same fact on all credible sources on his biography. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by nihilistjnr: 11:07pm On Sep 26, 2023 |
A001:You're actually arguing against yourself. You've been writing paragraphs about Nigerians being stupid because they study in English, their native tongue by your own definition, instead of in their parent's original language. And you're using Einstein as an example of that. A001:But Einstein wasn't ethnically German just as nigerians are not ethnically English. We learnt to speak, read and write English in the same way the Non-German Einstein learnt to speak the Germsn language. Einstein himself with his own mouth admitted his shame that he couldn't speak his father's language. So if Einstein did not bother translating science into the language of his forefathers, what exactly is your point again?

nihilistjnr:Where was Einstein born? See mumu argument. Are the Nigerians I'm talking about not in their birthplace? Some people mumu sha. Einstein‘s birthplace was Ulm, Germany, and his native language was German, so he did his scientific works in the language of his birthplace, German. A Yoruba scientist, who was born in Yorubaland, should be doing science in Yoruba, the language of his birthplace, Yorubaland, like Einstein did. Simple. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by DeadPresidents: 11:16pm On Sep 26, 2023 |
nihilistjnr:I knew you’d apply the coup de grace with aplomb. Learn science in whatever language you understand it best. To be honest, the Internet made English the de-facto world language and I don’t see anything changing that soon. There was the language wars and English won. Most languages will continue to exist for cultural reasons but as a means of communication, English has already won that battle |

DeadPresidents:If I said that guy wad being intellectually dishonest, I would be doing him a favour. The man literally argues that your native tongue is the language of the place of your birth Yet somehow literally one post before, he says Saka's native language is Yoruba. Saka was born in London. I genuinely believe there is a need to promote more of our culture. Like 001 I also fear the repercussions of Yoruba culture going extinct. But I don't subscribe to the constant bashing of English speakers in thr slightest. English is tbd language of the world. You have to learn it. |

Simple ability to make logical points, some people no get for head. Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany. German is one of the native languages spoken in that area. And naturally, he did science in his native language. In the same area, Yiddish is also spoken but he wasn't fluent in it. Then, applying the same analogy to Nigerians. The best thing is to do science in the language of your birthplace, your native language. That's what I said in my post. Some people don't have a simple understanding of issues. All over the world, millions of scientists do science in their mother tongue. But no, everyone must do science in English, which isn't even the language of their birthplace. What's your proof? A Wikipedia excerpt. Common Wikipedia. The best language anyone can understand science in is their mother tongue. That's a fact. |

A001:Why is English, the literal official language of Nigeria not a Native language to a Nigerian? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001: 11:33pm On Sep 26, 2023 |
nihilistjnr:Lols, see question o. Is English indigenous to Nigeria or Africa? The native languages of Nigerians are the local languages, not English. Na imported language from Europe you dey call a native language, lols. English is native to the people of England, not Nigeria. Check the similarity in the spelling of both words. The synonyms for a native language are indigenous language, mother tongue. So, what makes English the mother tongue or indigenous language of Nigerians? Are Nigerians English people? All these funny arguments sef. Saka was born and brought up in the UK by Yoruba parents. So, his native languages are English (being the language of his birthplace) and Yoruba. However, I directed my initial post at Nigerians born in the country to imbibe the habit of doing science in the language of their birthplace, which is their mother tongue or native language or indigenous language, just like Einstein did science in his native language, German, the language of his birthplace in Ulm, Germany. Simple issue. |

Who's following the Victor Osimhen and Napoli debacle on Twitter? I dunno, but think people are making too much of the video...the Napoli page trolls it's players now and again, maybe as some form of crude joke, but it's something they do. Osimhen has responded to the joke by deleting practically everything relating to Napoli from his page...unless this is some ploy that ends with him getting a contract negotiation that sees him get a raise, not a good move, even if the page wasn't some troll account. |

Nigeria: MKO Abiola Stadium - Abuja Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium - Port Harcourt Teslim Balogun stadium - Lagos Ahmadu Bello Stadium - Kaduna Stephen Keshi Stadium - Asaba Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium - Benin Sani Abacha stadium - Kano Benin 🇧🇯 Republic: Stade Mathieu Kerekou - Cotonou Stade Charles de Gaulle - Porto Novo CAF will announce the winning bid later today.. Nonetheless, I would have swapped either Asaba or PH with Uyo, which arguably has the best stadia in the SS |
