illicit:Oga, pidgin is a creole. When interlocutors give you contrary opinions to what you think you know, the onus is on you to research for additional knowledge, not to take arguments as a stock in trade while boasting about being idle. |

illicit:I am not sure you get my point. There's a difference between Ekiti and Ekiti state. There are Ekiti in Kwara state and those Ekiti are on the fringes of Yorubaland and not hinterland. It is like the Awori and Ijebu too, both Yoruba sub groups are in Lagos and Ogun states. If you are Yoruba, you should get my point. The only Yoruba that will be plain to every Yoruba is Oyo and Osun. You're right that some communities in Benin Republic border Oyo state but those are geographic borders not linguistic borders. The Benin republic communities next to Oyo are Yoruba speaking and used to be part of the old Oyo Kingdom. The only Yoruba that will be plain to every Yoruba is the Oyo Yoruba. As a Yoruba, the other dialects of Yoruba are not difficult for me to understand but it's only the Oyo one that I hear and see as plain. Ekiti, Ulesha , Ijebu, Ondo, Egba, Igbomina and all of them, I can hear but only the Oyo is plain to us all. |

1Sharon:Pidgin Enlish cant sound alike because it's a broken language (no grammatical rules) It is made up of jargons, random and loan words and heavily influenced by the native language of any region you find it So even in Nigeria you have different varieties but the things is it is mutually intelligible because some words remain the same For example, ' I no fit go' ' I no know him Commot there Go die now Na me u dey follow talk? English speakers from anywhere can decipher what you mean even if their own version is different |

Pidgin is not totally same as creole. Creole has rules guiding it. Creole has syntax according to a documentary I got. But Pidgin has no rules. Jamaican patois used to be Pidgin for a very long time before it became standardize and developed to a full language (creole). Illicit, kindly note that most English speakers who aren't Nigerian do not understand Nigerian Pidgin English. You may think it is simple but it is very complex to them. For example, "Dey there make pant dey wear you" is a Pidgin English but no non-Nigerian English speakers would understand. Boldbrainz, Upsupa, and the rest, Pidgin English is totally not same with creole. Creole is advanced and standardized. It has its lexis and structure. |

I guess it's only West Africans and Camerounians. Caribbeans also understand it to an extent. |
