Which One Is Better? To Be Right? Or To Be Correct.? by BluntCrazeMan: 5:17am On Sep 29, 2023
Most of the times, when someone is right, he is also correct.

But some times, he may be very right, but he won't be correct; and he would be faced with the dilemma of choosing whether to continue being right, or to entertain a little bend in his convictions in order to be correct.

So, if you're faced with such dilemma, which option would you go for??
Would you strongly maintain your stance on what you think is right, until a stronger logic or reasoning convinces you otherwise??
Or would you agree with popular stances which are opposed to your stance (even without a strong reason for doing so), so as to flow with the stance and be correct in their eyes.??

FURTHER EXPLANATIONS:
Being right is when someone has a strong conviction that what he is saying or doing is good and proper and just. He doesn't need anybody’s extra opinion before he would know whether he was right or wrong. He is convinced by his own personally adjudged truth of the matter.

And then...
Being correct is when someone says or does something which someone else (or which other people) agrees to be true. Truth in general sense is relative, and not absolute. So, what someone sees as true might not be so true to someone else. Thus, someone who always wants to be correct is not only convinced by his own judgement, but by the judgement and acceptance of other people.

For one to be right, he needs to have a lot of information in order to arrive at a good judgement and have his own personal opinion.

For one to be correct, all he needs is an opinion (or a popular opinion).

For Me, being Right is better than being Correct in the eyes of others just to please them when down within you, you know what you‘re doing isn‘t right.
More like an eye service.
OP, thanks for the short but educative piece.
Enjoy your day.

Hmm! I will say to be correct is the main thing. Let's look at it from this 3 scenario.

Obi is right to say having came the distant 3rd he should be given the presidency BUT
Tinubu is correct to say having lost Lagos and Abuja, the fact that he scored the highest votes, he should be made president of the republica.
WHILE
Atiku is always right to contest every 4 years but he's not correct to keep saying Hausa should always be PDP flag bearer.

Better is like precise. Right is like accurate. Being accurate is better because you can be precise ( better) but inaccurate but you can't be correct (right) and be wrong.

It takes more extra self discipline, effort, time and patience to be right but it's always worth it at the end. Most of the people whose legacies endured are because they are right not because they are better.

Better should not be the end but means to the end(right). Just do the right things no matter whose ox is gored, even if you suffer for it, you will never suffer in vain or fail to get justice from man and God. All who mock you will end in disgrace at last.Check my signature for free stuffs!

Is it right to say that Nigeria is a failed state or it is correct to assume it has failed as a country.

To be correct, I'm a factual and logical person, sometimes the right thing isn't always the correct or ethical thing, but in a situation of life and death I'd rather be right

This is nonsense.

Being right is the same as being correct, as the alternative is being wrong.

What you're attributing as being right when someone strongly believes their own conviction whether correct or not is simply their opinion, or confirmation bias.

They Don't mean the same.
Correctness is based on a measurable criterion of reference. Correctness is based on an expected value or benchmark such as ethics.

Being right is based on moral perception which may differ based on individuals and the society.

Yes, it's possible for someone to be "right" in a certain sense, such as morally or ethically, but not necessarily "correct" in terms of factual accuracy or adherence to established rules.
