So this guy hacked the whatsapp of a colleague (we are members of same whatsapp group) and decided to chat me and asking for money with the aim of scamming me.

His flow didn't sound like my colleague, I couldn't reach my colleague by direct phone call cos it was midnight in order not to disturb her sleep.

I decided to play along and this morning, I made sure the group admin blocked the number cos the scammer reportedly messaged some other group members but no success. He later blocked me.

Na so one of them wanted to use the trick on me. He said that his bank had an issue and that l should help him use my money to transfer to the person he wanted to pay the money to.

I asked him if I could send my account number to him to see if the money could be transferred to my bank, then I would help him to transfer to the person since I was using the same bank as the other person.
The scammer blocked me.

The same format with one that took over the whatsapp of a relative. I also played along and got his account details below:

ACCOUNT NAME: ADEBAYO HAPPY

The guy had successfully collected money from a couple of the person's friends. Is there nothing that can be done to these kinds of people?

Did they hack it without you sending a code inadvertently or under any guise like they want to add you to a whatsapp group but you should send a code to them?
