Trump's name floated for House Speaker even amid NYC trial

Republican lawmakers have floated former President Donald Trump as a potential candidate for House Speaker even as he faces the third day of his fraud trial in New York City.

Congressional Republicans are foundering after Rep. Kevin McCarthy's, R-Calif., ouster on Tuesday. The drama coincides with Trump's own trial in Manhattan, and multiple House Republicans have vowed to nominate him for the speakership.

Texas Rep. Troy Nehls said in a statement Tuesday afternoon his first order of business when the House reconvenes "will be to nominate Donald J. Trump for Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives."

Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., followed suit in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday evening: "@realDonaldTrump for Speaker."

The next speaker does not technically have to be a current sitting member of the House, but every speaker in U.S. history has been.

He does not qualify because he is under multiple indictments. If leadership in Congress have to step aside in the event of indictment, how would they select someone already under multiple indictments? What a shame that some people neglect to learn the laws of the land before running with foolishness.

rule 26(a) of the House Republican Conference rules for the 118th Congress clearly states, “A member of the Republican Leadership shall step aside if indicted for a felony for which a sentence of two or more years imprisonment may be imposed.”

There’s no witchhunt and even it there was, not getting the Republican party’s nomination will stop him before anything else does.
He lost in 2020 and his former lawyer recorded him admitting that he lost. He lost by millions of votes and he’s lost the majority of his original fan base—-he won’t be winning anything. Trump will never sit in the Oval Office Again.

According to Q, Trump was going to be a speaker around last year to take care of some business. But since it has taken them this long to get to this point in the middle of campaign, I don't think he has time for it.

It’s amazing that people still believe an anonymous, nameless, faceless hero that has been feeding them lies for years, even after hundreds of ‘drops’ failed to come true. Q should’ve come to the rescue of all the January 6 criminals who are sitting in jail after falling for the fairytales, especially since none of the people Q said would be arrested are free while it’s gullible followers are locked up.
