Trust Nigerian civil servants. They won't rest until they run everything to the ground and put all the blame on government.

You payment system that can eliminate fraud and racketeering. You can borrow sense from BRT model in Lagos. Tap in and tap out. Eliminate the use of cash. BRT started with exchanging your cash with ticket vendors that have no direct businesses with the staff of BRT and later started to use cowerry card system. 8yrs after Fashola government, the BRT is still running in Lagos.

This is the type of corruption you find everywhere in Nigeria

The level of corruption in Civil service is actually very high, it's way beyond our comprehension. They are more corrupt than all of our politicians
It's high time government purged most of them and privatise our economy.

This is how the first set of Nigerian Railways of the 70s,80s and 90s died- as high grades of Corruption is involved by running a business without Accountabilities - from Top to Bottom of the Management,are likely to be involved and that is why NBILLIONS are spent without any good returns as they are reckless and very Corrupt!
-The same Way that Nigeria Airways died and was liquidated. Just looked at the trends in New NIGERIA AIR!
What a shameful act!
The Solution is :
1- adopt the BRT - operational guidelines e g ,before you enter the BRT,you load your Card and must be presented at the Entrance Door.
2- Everybody Must Present his/ her Card at the Entrance and the Machine will Debit the Card ,before returning it back to the Passenger!
3- No Security Officer is allowed Free-Ride- without Payment,as this is Managed by Private Individuals,the Security,if they want to Enjoy it should also Pay for their Journey,except Special Forces that Watches over the Railway on the Journey!
-We MUST allowed Railway & InterCity Rail to be run Profitably, otherwise,we are doomed!
Nonsensical and Wicked and Very Corrupt People Everywhere.They have no Consciense to allow Nigeria Great!

Glad that action is being taken. Many public and private institutions are being run down by the staff.
You'd wonder why supermarkets, canteens and bars insist in you getting your receipts. You can't let your guard down for a second, you do that, and you're over charged.

I heard on radio that train tickets to Ibadan from Lagos are bought only using cash. Instead of using POS to ensure transparency and issuing dated printed tickets using a thermal printer they issue stock preprinted tickets.

All these give room for corruption and should be immediately curtailed if the train service seeks to be efficient and remain profitable over time.

You're right.
But I would suggest that government should be involved in only setting and implementing projects. When it comes to running it effectively, it should be handed over to private enterprise to run.

Civil servants in Nigeria are our number one enemy
