I'm excited for Ariaria.
Hopeful that it can solve the power problems of the indigenous manufacturers in that place.

You should have told us their locations. I see two igbotic names Sha. We need to decentralize everything. The national grid should be balkanized

No need for wailing.

Electricity has been fully deregulated by Buhari.

We don't need price reduction. What we need is improved service while we control our usage.

I hope this ones will not rely on national grid to survive...

If not, once that grid collapse now, it might be difficult to revive, make them source independently.

I totally agree with your submission. If there is improved service, people are ready to pay for it and surprisingly, with controlled usage, it'll be cheaper in the long run

At my place of work, we spend just 5/7k per month for the whole building, a storey building. Just two freezers that everyone shares, the fans work well so no need for AC, and everyone switches off their bulbs and fans at the end of the work day

Even water is pumped every two days rather than trying to refill the tanks every morning

That way, our cost was reduced from estimated billing of about 25k to just 5-7k per month

A colleague was telling me just this weekend that their last bill was an estimated bill of about 100k, and every miniflat had to cough out around 12k... When they went to complain at the office, the officials told them to GET PREPAID METER

What I'm trying to say is, let the new competition lead to increased service and you'll see people pay for it

Side note: I see Babcock electricity firm there, what about Covenant abeg... Knowing Oyedepo as someone who is innovative and thinks ahead always, I believe he should have thought of setting up his own so that he won't have issues with electricity... He fall hand o

The most important thing is, WHAT MEGAWATTS OF ELECTRICITY IS NIGERIA GENERATING AND DISTRIBUTING AT THE MOMENT AND IN YEARS?

Nigeria is such a shameless, USELESS and empty country filled with the most evil, senseless, corrupt and old fool leaders.

South Africa here is producing almost 250,000 megawatts of electricity, while Nigeria claiming giant of Africa can't even produce up 30,000.
THAT MEANS SOUTH AFRICA IS PRODUCING ALSO X10, IMAGINE!

HOW CAN A COUNTRY SURVIVE AND PROGRESS WITH ELECTRICITY IN THIS MODERN AGE?
YET, NIGERIA STILL REMAINS 6TH LARGEST PRODUCER OF CRUDE OIL IN THE WORLD.

WHAT A SHAME!
OGA PATAPATA,PLS,WHAT'S D SOLUTION SIR?

They will now be looking for rich man to sell licenses too Nigerians and greed
Nigerian leaders is a reflection of how majority of Nigerians think. Selfish hypocrites and wicked thinking. It's very despicable

una go gree pay..you feel say the companies are foolish
Them de buy the power wen them de distribute
With the normal 9ja mentality of wen a 3 bedroom flat with 3 Acs..3watee heater .. electric cooker and many others ,,will wanna pay 3k for 24hrs light in a month,,or is it the pre paid meter that some persons bypass the large appliance from reading on the pre paid meter.
How you expect distribution companies to make thier Money
Na wetin we de pay them de ration de give us

Loads person will not agree to pay 45k a month for 3 bedroom to get 24hrs light..
Sometimes the line33 charges as high as 75k a month

The figure you quoted for South Africa is not true ! South Africa currently produces around 58,095 Megawatts of electricity,80% of which is sourced from coal. Agreed,Nigeria is not doing well but the figure you quoted for South Africa is grossly exaggerated !

I hope they're coming with dere own money to start something remarkable the way MTN and other Network came in den to kick out NITEL...

Most of these licensees are to operate in cluster areas like industrial parks, housing estates and markets. Their licenses usually cover limited areas.

It’s a step forward though.
