It's well-known that most religions feature a concept of their supreme deity being referred to as the "Lord/King of Heaven(s)." Such figures are collectively categorized as "sky father" deities, and they frequently serve as the heads of their respective pantheons.

In Greek mythology, we find Zeus.
In Latin, there's Jupiter/Jove.
Among the Yoruba people, there's Olorun.
The Jewish faith centers on Yahweh.

The Igbo culture acknowledges Chukwu.
In Norse mythology, there's Tyr.

What makes heaven and what's within it so special that it's a recurring theme among the heads of these pantheons? To understand what "heaven" or "sky" meant in ancient times, we can examine the context of various original languages. Etymology is indeed a valid approach.

Cognates originating from the stem *dyeu- ("daylight, bright sky" ) and the epithet *Dyēus Ph2ter ("Father Sky" ) are widely present in Indo-European languages. Some examples include:

Greek: Zeus Pater. (Pater means Father).
Illyrian: Dei pátrous.
The Irish All-Father: The Dagda.
Latin: Jupiter/Jove; Old Latin: Dioue (or loue).

Dyēus referred to the vast and bright sky of the day. Even a quick search of the word "heaven's" etymology will lead you back to "sky."

So, what makes heaven/sky so special? 1) It Contains Everything, The Akasha.
