Last Saturday when Hamas attacked Israel, the Israelis were observing double Shabbat.
1) the weekly Shabbat (every Saturday)
2) the end of the feast of Sukkot (a high day Shabbat) also known as feast of Tabernacles.

So, naturally it was a very solemn day in the entire country and the bloodthirsty Hamas seized that opportunity to attack them.

I think Israel won't take it lightly for two major reasons.

1) Killing of their people by Hamas.
2) Desecration of the Shabbat by Hamas.
