I stand with Ogundaisi on this, Mr President should not emulate Buhari on appointment style. I wish to see more Igbos, SS and middle belt appointments, not just Lagos or Yorubas. That's the way to build Nigeria and strengthen her unity. OBJ excelled on this issue.

OBJ came from a background of the very old military establishment which I knew first hand and cherished for being nationalistic.

When you are surrounded by folks of all ethnicities for a long time, crawl in the same mud, eat from the same pot and wear the same overcoats then those inherent biases tearing away at these generation of leaders becomes extinct.

That is what the NYSC was established to do. To impact on the youth the values of nationalism by taking them out of their cultural comfort zones and exposing them to the values of other societies.

Unfortunately the decay of corruption has truncated this ideal rendering it more ineffectual by the year.

The truth is that people that have strong ethnic biases are those that as they say, 'haven't travelled'. And by that I mean not just journeying from place to place but referring to those that haven't lived a life away from their ethnic strongholds and cultural securities.

They haven't ventured into places and positions where they will literally have to depend on foreigners to 'till the ground' or 'dig a mine.'

And all the way from the powerful Presidency to the humble digs of this forum you can know such individuals and from their words smell their inadequacies from a mile away.

The long and short of all this is simple.
Nigeria is called a giant but one that drags a mountain of problems behind in an attempt to move forward.

An engine room of growth to all of Africa and the black race they say, but one run with contaminated fuel. The contamination of ethnic and religious suspicions. A nation badly requiring the decontamination of a process called restructuring.

So that the average leader will be comfortable surrounded by people of all backgrounds and the nation in turn will be comfortable installing leaders of any background because they know it will not matter.

So that Nigeria as a nation becomes light on her feet and is able to catch up with the countries we were at par with at independence. A list that sadly increases every year. Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Brazil, India and many, many more. Such a pity.

It is clear that the best years of Nigeria's democracy were during the OBJ's years because he was well 'travelled'.

He KNEW a lot of people. And by that I infer that he was a chef with the biggest menu because he was conversant with the largest number of ingredients. Success by that becomes easy.

Exposure is important. Important to business, vocation, profession and every kind of relationship under the sun.

How can you possibly be exposed to the best tools for a job when your reach or bias is limited. To the carpenter his hammer is king. Yes, it may serve his expertise in knocking sheds together. But if he is not exposed to a world of power tools he just cannot build that warehouse.

This was the undoing of the Buhari administration and to a lesser extent the Jonathan regime before it. And we said it then. That though loyalty had a place in government but if you have the resources and cancer to go with it, you will move beyond the loyalty of your family doctor to go find a specialist of any bias or die, simple.

What makes for the success of rookie or juvenile presidents in other climes is rock solid institutions where eggheads of ALL KINDS are the foundations.

Nigeria is not a country of institutions. Leadership is the institution in this quasi feudal state so it is critical that whoever is selected as leader/king is ALL WISE, ALL KNOWING and ALL EXPOSED/EXPERIENCED.

Miss that ideal and the country is shrunk to a village sized enclave.

And because man makes his environment if a President engages the majority of his tools from the fishes of the sea....hmmm, in time all of us will begin to swim.

I think the last government should have taught us a thing or two. At least never ever again to elect people with strong distrust for others to lead a whole nation. See the mess of a country today.

I would have ignored you but for clarification:
1. I don't do all these internet war or banter, I don't insult people I don't know nor know, I don't like people that hide behind keyboard and insult people unnecessarily.

2. I've not met u before and we ve never discussed here nor anywhere before, so, I don't know how you found out that I supported buhari or not...this is still a mystery to me
