I'll heavily redact some information because of the undertakings and secrecy oath forms we were all made to sign and explicit warnings so as not to jeopardize my career. I feel the need to share so as to motivate and inspire others in this forum.
So, 3 weeks ago I got an invite from one of the best 2 government agencies to work in Nigeria to come to their HQ for interview. We did the interview and about 3 dozen of us were selected and given offer letter within the same week, to my surprise all of us that got job were children of nobody, in fact we all studied in Public universities and polytechnics nobody with foreign qualification was given employment.
During the orientation and onboarding, the HR after detailing our packages informed us of the rationale behind them not selecting the children of the elite because of gross insubordination, unfiltered ego and always calling their ogas at the top when reprimanded.
Many may be asking how I got invited, well, the head of the agency gave all the staff the opportunity to present their candidates (fortunately I happen to have a mid level staff aquantance who works there and she presented me).
The biggest lesson I learned was only Allah has the power to open your door of success through fervent prayers(regardless of any connect), and don't underestimate Allah's plans for you. Allah alone is sufficient for us all. Kindly ignore my typos

Bank job speaking from experience. I had work in the bank with four to five year experience made good money but fail to invest wise but when I was laid off I tried to maintain myself but biglife style of banking sector plays out.

Now am a government staff collect 70k+ am telling categorical that except you collect bribe that when you can survive and if no opportunity for bribe na loan go finish you because government job is waste of time job full of hate minded civil servant unlike their counterparts in corporate private organisations doing good and well respected.

Contract staff dont get promoted except in rare cases when the bank is short staff and they want to convert but even the conversion your age will considered if you're above 30 nothing for you.

- in the next 15 years na 160k na him go be him salary with working extra hours

- as a teller some days your Till no go balance na you go pay and balance before you go home, nothing like end of month they will deduct from your salary. You go balance am on the spot

-your mental health will be affected, every four to six months you will be seeing small small children wey dem go employ to be your Oga, some of them go talk to you anyhow because you be bloody teller.

- tellers are front line staff that means their appearance matters alot, once you don dey reach 40 just know say you sack letter don dey come. They will employ a younger person for your job.

-I dare anybody to count 3 persons they know personally that retired peacefully (not resign o) and is collecting pension from a private bank

- you must be at office before 7:00 am so that you attend morning meetings, the meeting starts by 7 for most banks and branches.

- everyday your heart will be cutting because you dont know what you go and face in the office.

- just forget about half of your weekends, you be suport for ATM, there would be branch reviews and some meetings weekends.


-govt job gives more than enough time, you go dey wonder wetin you wan use your time do. That when you're supposed to start a side hussle and plan your life and further your education.
Nobody go give you chance to further any education for bank.
