House demolition: Igbos are in trouble, this is pure wickedness – Footballer Emenike blasts Lagos State govt
WithinnigeriaOct 16, 2023 9:33 AM

The wails and woes of numerous homeowners in Lagos echoed far and wide as they witnessed the bulldozing of their properties by the Lagos state government. This drastic measure was attributed to the persistent woes of erosion and flooding in the area. Emenike is seething with anger at Sanwo-olu's administration and is vehemently urging the afflicted Igbo residents to hightail it back home and sow the seeds of their investments there.
House demolition: Igbos are in trouble, this is pure wickedness – Footballer Emenike blasts Lagos State govt
Emenike, the retired Nigerian footballer, has lit up social media with a scorching critique of the Lagos State government.
He alleges that they’ve torn down the properties of Igbo residents in the state, despite these individuals having the government’s nod when they laid the foundation for these million-dollar dreams.
Former Super Eagles player, Emmanuel Emenike, is raising a ruckus over the bulldozer blitz executed by the Lagos State government, leaving some Igbo residents in the state high and dry.

Last week, the Lagos State government commenced the demolition exercise of illegal structures built on canals and waterways along the Gedegede – Mobil road – Megamound Estate – Ikota drainage channels.

The Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources noted a need to implement the demolition exercise to stop the reoccurring erosion and flooding in the environment.

Multimillion naira properties were brought down during the demolition exercise supervised by the Operatives Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.

Emenike, responding passionately and sharing a vivid image of the demolished property on his Instagram story, expressed his deep empathy for the profound sadness experienced by the affected individuals.

He asserted that they had secured approval from the very Lagos State Government that ultimately razed their properties to the ground.

Emenike didn’t hold back, characterizing this action as a glaring example of wickedness in its purest form.

With genuine concern for his fellow Igbo brethren living in the state, he offered prudent advice, encouraging them to repatriate their investments to the safety of their eastern roots, specifically naming states like Abia, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi as secure destinations.

He wrote;

“THE SADNESS IS TOO MUCH AFTER GETTING APPROVAL FROM THE SAME LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT, THIS IS PURE WICKEDNESS.

“IGBOS ARE IN TROUBLE, BRING YOUR INVESTMENT BACK HOME MY PEOPLE WE HAVE, ABIA STATE, IMO STATE, ANAMBRA STATE, ENUGUSTATE AND EBONYI STATE.”

When you build house in the wrong area, your house will be demolished legally, no matter how you cry or play victim card.

If you don't like it, go back to your landlocked region where nothing good grows.

I know some yorubas, even many Hausas that their houses are demolished too. But na one particular tribe always play victim.

Imagine the so called wise people that always bought a scammer's land.

The demolition touched all ethnic groups. I watched on Instagram a Yoruba celebrity crying her eyes out as her house was being brought down.
Abeg we should stop attaching ethnic sentiments to everything that happens in Lagos.
Emenike take your time o!

Why would govt demolish what they earlier approved without even compensation? Una no get town planning authority for that Lagos?

Is that not wickedness.

Person go suffer hustle, save money and build and you now dictate how they should react after demolishing their property.

Ontop this hardship

If they have a master plan dated back to military era , why not follow the master plan when giving approval for people to build, why approve people to build then demolish it later

What do you mean by illegal?

I'm very sure you haven't built 2x2 toilet before.

Why are you guys this docile?

Before you build anything in a city, you must get approval. No matter what you want to build. Anyone without approval won't even build it to finish before the govt will mark it as unapproved.

Abii na for bush you deey live?

I totally agree with you. However, making it look like an ethnic based demolition is wrong. That's my point

There's nothing wrong with it.

If you come to an area, there are places that might be predominantly occupied by non indigenes, if such demolition happens in such places, with other areas housing "illegal" buildings of indigenes not touched, how will you feel? How will you react to it?

Any property that got government approval before its construction deserves compensation whenever the government sees it necessary for demolition.
This is the right thing to be done.

These Guys again

They are always playing the victim, They are manipulators.

When you are always the tribe having issues with other tribes, you need to really check yourself.

Na who swear for una?

If the influential ones amongst you people reason like this, what do we expect from you the "followers" grin

So, na only Igbo people get property for that estate? grin

If you like, don't do propr findings before buying a property, the Government will continue to demolish and there is nothing any of you can do about it.

Don't play! Else, you'll learn the hard way.
