A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adamu Garba has urge the National Film and Video Censors Board ( NFVCB) to provide life insurance for most important screen personalities.

Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board need to come up with a policy gradient to provide a life insurance cover for our most important screen personalities.

Mr. Ibu is one of Nigeria’s greatest content creators and valued TV asset. He should have been qualified for a certain cover in his life for all the times he spent keeping Nigerians happier. I believe he deserves much better treatment from his present condition.

Similar situation happened to many of our popular celebrities, late Sadiq Dana is a case of reference among others. Most of them have to source for support from public domain. This is not good for the image of the country and is setting a bad precedent for the current and future Nollywood industry participants.

Is also disincentivizing to those already in the industry and might kill their creative prowess. Any wonder why we have much worst contents from Nollywood now than the ones we used to have in times past.

Our artists are our assets, they are carriers of our national pride, dignity and honor. Wherever you find Davido or Burna Boy or Ali Nuhu or Rahma Sadau or Lizzy Anjorin or Classiq, or Okocha or Ahmed Musa etc, the first thing the foreigners think is Nigeria.

Government must provide a policy to guarantee cover for their later years in life after productive ones.

Granted someone would say that we have so many life insurance companies , why can’t they enroll in a premium for one? The answer is yes, but there are individuals that grows to worth becoming national assets and should be treated like one.

Our elective executive officers are insured, our government workers, cars, buildings etc are insured. Because they are treated as national assets. So also, our artist, who work harder to gain their audience, create a Nigerian content and keep Nigerian flags flying. They should be accorded the necessary state-level backup.

I pray for Charles Okafor aka Mr. Ibu to have a speedy recovery and may God bless any Good Samaritan who might have volunteered to help him regain his health.
