This very wrong mindset.. A Yoruba saying says training a child takes d whole village.. hw will your child be discipline without caning? The caning u received -- has it killed u? Caning is one of d best forms of calling an under 10yo to order. Grounding and all of that are not as effective..

Canning is exactly what made me hate the teachers, and it is abuse, kids will always be kids, why do you think they don't cane children in America, it's because they are sophisticated and not uncivilized wild aneemals like you.
Here in Nigeria Rich people they have sense they don't cane their children in school, but because of poverty you refused to grow hup
Anyway they are your kids, FEEL FREE.

Are u joking? Check out an avg American, British teenager and a Nigerian teenager -- who is more civilised, better behaved?
If u don't take out d bad habits in a kid... d kid will become an adult with the same bad habits.

And hope you are seeing what the children are becoming and what is happening to the society as a whole
Well, according to you, the training given by the previous generation where abandoned by the children after they grew up, right? Well, why don't we wait to see if the children will grow up to abandon the training they received from their parents this time around? grin

Even though i don't support murder, but i fully support retaliation against teachers, if you beat my kids i don't care i will find you, and will deal with you. You will fear.
Some teachers are bullies.
if you like don't train your children well, you will end up casting out devil at old age.

1. Gud question.Unfortunately that's exactly what happened to Nigerian adults in the IBB & Abacha era.. pressure of a poor economy and bad examples of govt made many who were never corrupt b4 to tilt and d spiral continued from der.
2. Your training, education is your real inheritance from your parents. Parents must still train... it is left for the grown child to make use of the training. It is much worse to not even train at all.
1. Do you actually believe this all started during the IBB and Abacha era? LOL... Anyways, you at least finally admit that a majority of those in the "generation of real men and women that strived to inculcate sound values" were themselves corrupt individuals playing "good parents". They too abandoned their own "good" upbringing as far back as the 70s and 80s only to turn around and force that same "good" upbringing on their own kids. grin

2. Let's not turn this into a charade abeg! Again, if 20 children were raised according to this "good" upbringing template of yours and all 20 children saw fit to abandon that template when they become adults, how do you still resolve that the upbringing was a "good" one even with the 20 who you tested it on found it was not good enough to hold on to and even worse not worth passing on to their own kids? undecided

But do many of those kids abandon their upbringing when they turn adults or not? undecided

I guess what I should ask is does the country need well-behaved kids or well-behaved adults? undecided

Almost 1 in 100 americans are in jail! Compare to 1 in 3000 Nigerians (and a lot are awaiting trial, or cannot pay little fines)-- which set of adults are better behaved?
Now, this brings us to corruption & d system.. remove d checks & balance system, the westerners will be very corrupt. But they see billionaires, former governors in jail for corruption, so they comport themselves as much as they can. U can see that Nigerians that would disobey d law here will go over there and ọbẹ̀y d law nicely.

.
Does the legal system in Nigeria work even 1/1000th as effectively as that in the America's? Do Nigerians consider crime the same way crime is frowned upon in the Americas? Just a couple or so again you admit that a vast majority of Nigerians are corrupt yet they walk the streets free and without consequence. Even your religious men are nothing but thieves in sheep clothing, yet you think it reasonable to compare the Nigerian situation with the American situation? undecided

2. So, in your mind, you think the checks and balances that exist in Americas are held up by magic. Magic basically holds up the criminal justice system and not the millions of citizens who work each day and do their due diligence to report crime when they see it, those of them who investigate and prosecute those criminals as fairly as they can, and those who lock them up and make sure criminals are removed from society for the duration of their punishment? In your mind, it is magic and not average citizens of the Americas that make it all happen? undecided

It never occurred to you before now that it is the average citizens of these western nations that in fact prop up the system and cause it to function the way it does? You think it is when Magic is introduced in Nigeria where the vast majority of citizens are corrupt and their children well aware of it too, that Nigeria will suddenly become a better society?? undecided

Bro. U have educated a lot of fellows here more than enough, the moment any self acclaimed sane person compare our ancestors that inculcated sanity in African society with the unrulines of westerners; ought to make u know that; A lot of educated adults are walking with kids mentality.

Like what u said; The reason why most westerners don't misbehave is becos of, A WORKING SYSTEM and that is also a means of severe way of bringing sanity to the society.

Seeing a generation that would out perform our ancestors is almost IMPOSSIBLE!, the funniest thing is; Those people had ZERO LEVEL OF FORMAL EDUCATION.

Simply looking @ d self preservation before marriage, the sanity in our women in African society then and the sanity in matrimony also, would make anyone to know that;
THIS GENERATION IS FAR LOST!.

When Awolowo's daughter was punished by her senior prefect, she left Ekiti State for the state house at Ibadan since she was the daughter of the Premier. The second day the Premier was at the school assembly in the morning. The Principal and the teachers were apprehensive. Then, the Premier asked who it was who punished the daughter. The senior prefect moved to the front after signifying with raising of her hand. Awo approached her shook her hand and gave her £2 after thanking her for the punishment. He was thereafter, escorted to his car and off he went to his office at Ibadan.
These were days when parents were parents.

**In Nigeria, we are just a dishonest, unpatriotic and ungodly human beings on the path of self destruction* .

_A shame on our race._

*I totally agree with the following by Bar Ola Kunle Allison: who says*
*Religion is not our albatross in Nigeria* .

It has never been.

*WE ARE JUST A SICK INDIGENOUS PEOPLE BLAMING EVERYTHING* _BUT OURSELVES._

I just saw a short documentary on *CNN* about the *Emirate of Dubai (an Islamic State)* and *her many disruptive and record-breaking technological/innovative strides, and my heart sank into despair* .

*Dubai* is NOT a *country* . It is just *one out of seven emirates that make up the UAE* .

An Islamic country which declared *independence* from *Great Britain* in *1971* .

Yet, *Dubai is the fastest growing Science and ICT hub in the world. Yes, you read that correctly; in the world!*

As I watched the documentary and *marveled at the unbelievable leaps in education, innovation and infrastructure achieved within 50years,* I began to compare *the emirate with our own Emirate of Sokoto and Emirate of Kano back home.*

```Folks, the difference is a universe apart.```
*Did you know that the Emirate of Dubai has singlehandedly launched 2 satellites into Space?*
