It was even worse back then. There were fewer Nigerians abroad compared to now and foreigners were less likely to socialize with a Naija person not to talk of allowing a Nigerian to tosibe. Now most countries have formal and informal Naija communities and eyes have opened enough that the average Naija person will be able to make friends if he puts in the effort.

I made a post about a guy that lost his life tragically in a robbery incident, and I highlighted the stupidity in the fact that the majority of Nigerians put their attention primarily on religion (and one god or the other) instead of science and technology, this one that has nothing in the brain dey fight for his god.

Instead of wasting time on your useless prayers for the victims, it's more reasonable to devise practical ways to avoid a repeat of such an incident. And only use of the brain, science and technology can help achieve that, not your useless god or religion.

Countries around the world that are relatively safer and with higher life expectancy rely on use of the brain, science and technology to achieve such feats, not useless prayers that don't work.

Some might be content creators but some might really be going through it. The trick about socializing in a strange land is to put in the effort.
The easiest way for an average Nigerian is through church and mosque settings.

You can also meet people through work, either colleagues or other people that you come across as a result of your duties. If it is a big organization that is better as the chances of meeting people that you share interests with increases.

Another easy way over here is through sports. When i first landed i joined football and basketball leagues and through that kind of setting you get to make friends. And for those who want to rub minds and be given in toto details of their new surroundings there are mixed leagues (male and female combination teams).

Then there are other options like the gym, book clubs, volunteering at non-profit organizations, joining an interest group (hiking, gaming, rock climbing, walking), or signing up for a multifaceted social platform like Meetup) The more extroverted can easily make friends from just walking around at shopping malls, bars, the beach etc.

It usually takes being an introvert and being a bit lazy to struggle to make friends out here. The extrovert does it with ease but an introvert that puts in the effort will still get the job done.

So US military bases in the Middle East are not safe...especially the ones in Syria & Iraq are being attacked. Lets see how US will respond.
